A Netflix Community

Hello all. I've just finished watching disc 4 from series 4 of "The 4400". It's time for me to "absorb" another series. I would like some recommendations on some TRULY GREAT series, not average or low entertainment ones. I realize that this is completely subjective and some will give suggestions of what they consider to be great series, and I might not be interested in them. But if everyone recommends what they consider to be "the best", then law of average will dictate that the majority of the suggestions will at least be considered to be better than average by the general consensus. To give you an idea of what I've personally seen and consider to be the best (I've already seen) they are: The 4400, Heroes, Nip/Tuck, Dexter, Ugly Betty, The Office, The L Word. Please keep these in mind when you make your suggestions as any series that are similar in nature will at least get my attention. I think that others will also benefit from reading this list, so please post any and all of what you consider to be the best out there!!

Alice, you are correct about this site in that people don't jump all over you for every little infraction you make as a new user. I was just thinking about that yesterday. For the couple days I've been on this site, I've noticed that there aren't the typical arrogant trolls who sit and wait for "newbies" to post messages, just so they can jump all over them with their "expertise". I guess that because this is a site of people that sit, watch, and rate DVDS, we are a more "introverted" group of people as opposed to people on other sites. We sit at home and watch tons of DVDS instead of being out partying all day and night. Sure, some of us party too, but the common denominator of the people on this site is that we, as a community have the patience to sit and watch a movie without distraction. A lot of people can't do that. Some people say that sitting for 2 hours to watch a movie is a waste of the pleasure of life. I say that it's an esoteric journey into various variables of life. A movie can take you into a thousand different directions of your interpretation of it. That's a MASSIVE amount of brainpower usage if you ask ME..........

OK, nobody laugh. I absolutley love Little House on the Prairie. I watch a few episodes weekly with my 4 year old son. It's so funny, because he will ask "Where's Mary". For some reason he has really grown to like her.

I won't laugh, either. My favorite show when I was little was the reruns of "Emergency!".

Little House is wonderful. I watched it when it was first on television. I still like to watch it, but I love those sweet family stories.

I always loved that show! Then I saw Melissa Gilbert on Nip Tuck and I cannot watch her anymore. I won't tell you what happened on Nip Tuck in case you want to watch it, but it spoiled LHOTP for me.

I love weeds. Although, so far Season 4 is a little disappointing

I agree that The Wire would be a good one to move to next.

I also think you’d like Weeds, it’s a Showtime series and it’s in its fourth season right now. Also Curb Your Enthusiasm. If you like The Office I really think you’ll enjoy this one.

Dr. Who.

And it's not currently season 4, it's season 31 (because I count McCann).
