A Netflix Community

Hello all. I've just finished watching disc 4 from series 4 of "The 4400". It's time for me to "absorb" another series. I would like some recommendations on some TRULY GREAT series, not average or low entertainment ones. I realize that this is completely subjective and some will give suggestions of what they consider to be great series, and I might not be interested in them. But if everyone recommends what they consider to be "the best", then law of average will dictate that the majority of the suggestions will at least be considered to be better than average by the general consensus. To give you an idea of what I've personally seen and consider to be the best (I've already seen) they are: The 4400, Heroes, Nip/Tuck, Dexter, Ugly Betty, The Office, The L Word. Please keep these in mind when you make your suggestions as any series that are similar in nature will at least get my attention. I think that others will also benefit from reading this list, so please post any and all of what you consider to be the best out there!!

Oof! Arrested Development is just not funny. I just can't see why anyone would like that show. I've given it a few chances. Same with 30 Rock. I could write funnier shows than these.
I'm very happy that Battlestar Galactica is finally back on. Something to look forward to for 10 weeks. I'll be sad when it's gone, but the show has run its course and should be given a decent end.

I only watch two shows on TV. The Office and Family Guy.
Yeah, I know it's not very Original, but screw you guys. I don't have to impress you people.

Also I like that show about the crab fishermen when it's on.

that's a good show but I think it's a little weird how they call that the deadliest job.

last time I checked being a soldier is a job.

30 Rock. I just started watch them on instant view.. Funny as heck and best part is they are 30 minutes long.. You can sit and watch them like potato chips.

These should keep you busy:

Curb Your Enthusiasm - Seinfeld Humor, perhaps the funniest show on TV.
30 Rock - Right up there with The Office
Lost - Would be great to watch in boxed set, if you have been in a bubble and don't know about this one.
Big Love - Shows a lot of promise
Bones - Dramady procedural
Coupling (on instant watch if you want a taste - The Office type humor)
Criminal Minds - Best commercial TV Whodunit.
Californification - Lot's of sex and crazy characters that live life on the edge
BSG - Very good sci fi show that has lots of fanatic followers.
House - Best Medical sleuth show.
Sopranos - Best TV show ever made.

I never heard of The 4400, I'll need to look into it. Also never watched the wire, but lots of good comments here.

Even though it wasn't anything great, Weeds is pretty decent going alone with your list there. You can watch the first two seasons online here.

Oh Yeah, I forgot about some old favorites now in box set:

Twin Peaks
Medium (current but forgot to add it to last list)
Millennium
X-Files
Star Trek TNG
Northern Exposure
My So Called Life
Joan of Arcadia
Sex and City
Journey Man (not sure if this is available due to fast hook)

I would envy anyone that never watched these shows and could zip through them in a box set.
