Netflix Movie Fans

I was just loooking through my Movie Reviews and made a list of the ones I wrote where I had 3 or more people say it was not helpful. I was surprised when a list of about 18 movies came up out of about 180 movie reviews which means about 10% of my reviews are somewhat controversial. Here is the list of my controversial movie reviews:
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
The Savages
Expelled
Atonement
Made of Honor
You Can't Take it With You
Get Smart
The Spiderwick Chronicles
Jesus, theGreat Debate
Smart People
Nazi Medicine: The Cross and The Star
Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Nim's Island
Frontline: Bush's War
Flawless
America's Godly Heritage: Wallbuilders

Okay, I know some of these are controversial movies or films because they are either political or religious. I totally get that, but "Nim's Island" or "You Can't Take it With You" I just do not get.
What about the rest of you reviewers. Do you also have controversial reveiws? What movies are they? //let's Talk About it...

I am right there with you, Chica. My positive review for In Bruges seems to have generated some controversy or something. It keeps getting "not helpfuls" for some reason. It's currently at "4 out of 11 people found this review helpful" and almost every day it gets another one "not helpful". The weird thing is that it is buried way down on page 23 of the reviews so people are digging deep in the review well to mark it not helpful. Very weird. I do notice there are several reviews down at the bottom for that movie that have a bunch of "not helpfuls" also so maybe someone that really didn't like the movie is marking everyone that gave it 4 or more stars "not helpful". Seems like an awful lot of trouble to go through just to be mean even for the anonymous internet masses.
"Seems like an awful lot of trouble to go through just to be mean even for the anonymous internet masses."

LOL... true dat~

I guess review-rating is the entertainment factor that people are missing in the films they have been watching...
This is also the case with my In Bruge review. I loved the movie and gave it a good review but I'm getting an awful lot of not helpfuls on that one and I'm also way buried and have been from the beginning, they never put my review up on the most recent page. It started out in the back and then got a bunch of helpfuls which pulled it a little farther up but since then, my buried review of In Bruge is consistently getting not helpful votes. I think it's sort of funny. Same thing for me with The Happening but I know why, I sort of enjoyed the movie for what it was, a campy B-movie sans the Shammalammadingdong twist and man did my review take a beating just because I found the film slightly entertaining. I also think that's funny.
RE: In Bruges, I clicked helpful and added it to my queue, if you'd like to know ;)
Oh, I hope you enjoy it, it really was the most surprising movie for me. I had no idea it was going to be such an enjoyable film. Really funny and just dark enough and witty enough for this jaded viewer.
Well I think I will just move it up in my queue...
Here's what happens to me:

Mainstream movie = lots of not helpfuls.
Exploitation Flick = lots of helpfuls.

I think for me it boils down to the fact that I don't like a lot of mainstream films, and thus I tend to give them less favorable reviews. XP films on the other hand I enjoy quite a lot and tend to give even the worst dreck some positivity to it's review, thus others that are looking for the same stuff find my reviews helpful. Honestly if you're reading my review of Enchanted and expect a glowing review of the film you'll be sorely disappointed on the other hand if your reading my review of 42nd Street Forever Volume 3: Expolitation Explosion you may be pleasantly surprised.

There is no controversy for me, I know why people don't like some of my reviews and why others do.
Um, wait did you just say you reviewed Enchanted? Which means you actually watched it? That I gotta read.
Okay, I like fairy tales and thought it was cute. I confess, I'm a hopeless or helpless romantic.
*Looking around sheepishly, hoping no one reads this* I liked Enchanted too
Funny thing is Spin, I really wanted to like it. I love talking animals. LOVE TALKING ANIMALS. I really wanted it to be so much more than it was.
Oh well there are talking animals now I want to see it. =)
