Netflix Movie Fans

I was just loooking through my Movie Reviews and made a list of the ones I wrote where I had 3 or more people say it was not helpful. I was surprised when a list of about 18 movies came up out of about 180 movie reviews which means about 10% of my reviews are somewhat controversial. Here is the list of my controversial movie reviews:
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
The Savages
Expelled
Atonement
Made of Honor
You Can't Take it With You
Get Smart
The Spiderwick Chronicles
Jesus, theGreat Debate
Smart People
Nazi Medicine: The Cross and The Star
Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Nim's Island
Frontline: Bush's War
Flawless
America's Godly Heritage: Wallbuilders

Okay, I know some of these are controversial movies or films because they are either political or religious. I totally get that, but "Nim's Island" or "You Can't Take it With You" I just do not get.
What about the rest of you reviewers. Do you also have controversial reveiws? What movies are they? //let's Talk About it...

"However, someone told me that my reviews were too personal"

I know that I may have been the someone but it was an observation based on what I do as well as how someone might interpret it, and not meant as a criticism of what you do.
I've said it before. NF should remove the "not helpful" button. It simply provides a means for people to try to hurt other's feelings, reviewer rank etc.. I'd be happy to know how many people found a review I posted helpful and leave it at that. If you want to have some fun, drop a review that rates "BORAT" something less than 5 stars and watch the "not helpfuls" roll in. I mostly write reviews to share my thoughts/opinion and help others decide if they want to see a movie. If it helps, great. Either way you shouldn't worry too much about it, they won't.
I agree. The not helpful button does not mean the review is unhelpful in helping them decide to watch or not, it just means they don't like what you said in the review. It is totally not what Netflix was anticipating when they set this whole thing up. However, I'm trying not to take it personal when people go through each review and mark unhelpful in on e night. With over 200 reviews they must have some bee up their bonet to use that much energy to be hateful.
Yes, it's amazing the effort they will put into it. I'm only into the 140s but I review 4 - 8 movies a week as I see them. My biggest complaint is that I can't see my reviews on the friends and community tab for some reason. I have to go to the movie's page and dig through to see them. As a result, I'm not getting many votes either way. Se la Vie

What do you mean you can't see your reviews while on the Friends & Community section of NF? They're not getting posted?
I don't get it either. Maybe you shuld call Netflix to see what the problem is.
Now I get it because I wrote a review, it was published for less than a day and then it totallly disappeared from the site as if it was never written. I called Netflix and they said ,"Oh, it's back up now" and still nothing on my screen. I'm ticked because I worked hard on that one.
You may want to do what I do, Cheryl, and save copies of what you post. I started doing that a while back when some of mine mysteriously disappeared and that is why I was able to replace the 10 reviews that disappeared from my reviews page the other day.
I will have to. My husband keeps telling me I should and it looks like I will have to finally listen!!
Although it is not a common occurrence, there is that rare occasion when a husband may, in fact, be right. But, do not quote me on that.
Thanks for the chuckle! I am now in the process of copying everything.
