I'm like you, I haven't watched tv in years...
I'm a big fan of "Lost" which can be watched at abc.com
"Entourage" is a fun series
"Deadwood" is good
"Hero's" is worth watching
"Nip Tuck" is good
"Veronica Mars"-I was surprised how much I liked this series
"The Office"-both US and UK versions are good
"Jericho"-Not sure if this show will last, but I enjoyed the first season
Best show on television that not many people saw, HBO's "The Wire". There are five seasons, the last episode of the final season just aired last Sunday, March 9th.
I loved HBO's "Carnivale", and Showtime's "Dexter" is pretty darn good in my opinion. Other shows I DVR are "House" and "Law & Order: SVU". I hope you return to post feedback on people's suggestions once you try them out! :-)
I am also not a tv watcher and very carefully pick the shows I want to see. I highly recommend Northern Exposure. Even though it was made in the 80's it's still relevant. It has a bit of everything, humor, love, drama and the setting is unusual. Six Feet Under is a very entertaining show. Horatio Hornblower is British and very enjoyable. Following is a list of shows that are well done and entertaining: Nero Wolfe, Monk, Foyles War, Dexter, Grey's Anatomy, Carnivale, Duchess of Duke St, Chef!(British humor)
Enjoy!!
If you're in the mood for comedy, Frasier is superb (except for the last season). Kelsey Grammar, David Hyde Pierce and the whole crew are a riot. The series is on the witty, urbane side, but there are plenty of slapstick moments.
The Sopranos was great, I agree. I never developed a taste for "24" - just too disjointed for me!
