A Netflix Community

As far as I am concerned instant watching is the future of Netlfix and the industry. Why wait for disks by "snail mail" when you can stream in real-time. However there is one small problem Netlfix seems to have discovered a special place which sells only the worst movies ever made and they are are: 1) all included in watching instantly and 2) Netflix has stopped adding almost any even half-way watchable movies or TV programs. Seriously folks this is not the way to get customers hooked on watched instantly by only giving us the option to watch rubbish. This is a particular shame because Roku (essentially a streaming DVD player) is a wonderful invention that makes watching streaming videos incredibly easy,

I couldn't agree with the original poster more.

Are they going out of their way to locate the poorest films ever made?
One can only conclude that they are ... although I was patient ... I understand they can't fill it full of entertaining films - they're hard to come by these days.
However, the films have to be tolerable at the very least ...

So, you didn't like Lust Caution, The Man Who Never Was, The Old Man and the Sea, the Great Santini, Constantine's Sword, or Steel City? I'd hardly call these poor or intolerable. And these are ones that were released just in the last week. Personally, I think these are all above average if not great.

This is a specific reply to Chuckles (and the numerous others who have agreed with us) but most directly to Spindaddydad. Spindaddydad, I am not sure if you work for Netflix OR are just taking too literally what is being said. No one is saying there are NO good movies on Watchnow, of course there are. However, once you have worked your way through the main list including old or famous movies ( e.g. "The Man Who Never Was, The Old Man and the Sea, the Great Santini", which does not take very long) it is still an infrequent occurrence for other possibly watchable movies to appear. Thanks for the suggestion of Lust Caution, I'll check this one out .

As regards Steel City and Constantines Sword - this is pasted from the Neflix site without alteration:

Steel City: First 3 reviews (and I promise I did not write any of them) - "#1. Steel City kept putting me to sleep" #2. 1 had high hopes for this film but I really couldn't go any more than three stars (it's really more like 2.5 with an extra half star just for America Ferrera whom I love) #3 2 1/2 stars) This is actually a difficult movie to rate. While the acting is top notch, the bland and yet depressing story knocks the acting out of focus.

Constantine's Sword, A description of the movie: Shot partly in Europe, Oren Jacoby's documentary examines the history of anti-Semitism in the Catholic Church (as exposed in James Carroll's controversial book Constantine's Sword) and the link between the U.S. military and the Christian right. From Constantine's reign in the fourth century to today's evangelical base at Colorado Springs' Air Force Academy, Jacoby's film offers a provocative look at the roots of holy wars past and present.

Thanks but no thanks I like to stay awake when I watch movies!

Yeah, documentaries and think-films can do that to some people.

I would think that there is a higher ratio of bad to good DVD releases over IW releases due simply to sheer volume. There are a LOT of BAAAD movies out there on DVD.
