What movies have you enjoyed that everyone else despises?

I'm not talking about some fiasco like "Heaven's Gate" that was universally -- and rightly -- condemned on its release, a film that for some imbecile reason you liked, and kept liking, until enough others began to like it as well, allowing you to lie to yourself about how right you were when everyone else was wrong. No, I'm not referring to that. I'm talking about those guilty pleasures that make you so guilty you dare not mention them approvingly in certain circles, since such a confession would mark you for life, scarring your reputation beyond any hope of recovery. I mean those movies that will never develop a cult following, that merit the scorn that's been heaped upon them. Don't pretend you haven't got a few of these in the closet. None of us has perfect taste. No matter how much you educate your taste buds, you still make room for chili fries and pork rinds. I realize that it's mighty tough standing up in front of everybody and saying, "My name is Rupert, and I'm an alco -- excuse me, I actually enjoyed _______________ (fill in the blank)."

I'm gifted when it comes to publicly degrading myself, so I'll start. Here are four -- there are others -- that I've seen and ENJOYED, even though I know they're every bit as bad as everyone says they are:

ISHTAR

DEATH TO SMOOCHY

MOHAWK

LAND OF THE PHARAOHS

I've seen the first two only once, and that was after they'd been denounced and burned in effigy all over this land. I suppose I mention that to suggest that, if I saw them a second time, my eyes would see the truth, and I could make myself clean again. Don't bet on it.

The second two are not really hated by everyone. In fact, they have their acolytes. But they'll never convince me. I've seen both films many times and will see them again. Those of us who enjoy them know the reasons why, reasons which I won't disclose, since they'd exhibit me as a coarse and lewd fellow.

Anyone else willing to confess?

Ah ha! I am not alone! Finally. I liked The Postman better than Waterworld but I did like them.
Freddy Got Fingered- There is something about Tom Greens randomness that makes for a good night in!
Soultaker! Terrible late 80's teen sci-fi horror thriller thing with rockin' hair metal soundtrack. But it's so fun to watch. And it has Emilio Estevez's dad, "Joe Estevez", as the bad guy. If that's not a sign of desperation, I don't know what is.
i saw that on mst3k. oh my gosh, that was AWFUL! my favorite mystie movies are "prince of space" and "the final sacrifice" ROWSDOWER! (sp?)
Last night I watched 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag on Watch Instantly. I loved it and gave it 5 stars. This one really works for this discussion because it looks like everyone hated it. IMDB.com has it at a 4.7 rating and rottentomatoes.com gives it 12%. This is close to the lowest rottentomatoes rating for one of my faves - Joe Dirt which garnered a big 11%. What's not to love about 8 Heads? Guy goes on vacation to meet his girlfriend's parents and accidentally gets a mobster's bag with 8 heads in it. That's funny.
i understand why people hate it, but i make no apologies and firmly stand behind my opinion of Gerry... i liked it a lot... it was beautifully shot and the quiet and super-slow pace i thought was a perfect reflection on being lost.
Here's a curveball, the first two matrix films.
Ughh, I will try to explain to you why I think it is horrible and enjoyable to watch at the same time.
It's widely accepted amongst the general public, but I've talked to alot of critics who deny to like it in any way shape or form.
Here's why it's horrible: Keanu Reaves as the star? Overly dramatic caveman surfer is the future's Jesus Christ along with the most hilarious kung fu poses ever. Everytime he speaks his tone usually has a hint of confusion as if he is asking you a question. I love how he jumps over Morpheus pointlessly in slow motion only to get kicked directly in the stomach. Morpheus later says, "your problem is not your technique." Morpheus also jumps ten miles into the air only to reveal the most predictable move in the world that never works. There is so much bad ass slow motion and cool tough man shots that you might want to go shopping for a full leather outfit afterwards with sunglasses, because sunglasses make you cool man... Neo destroys agent Smith by entering his body to blow him up into a million peices. Tell me, that is not a teenager's obsession with blood and gore? Humans are grown by crops? The sun has blown up and there continues to be life on earth? And since agents are indestructible, it's okay to shoot to kill as many innocent humans as possible, in fact it's fun. How Morpheus came to even trusting the Oracle to point of sacrificing his life is beyond me. And Trinity really loves Neo because they are both into leather and martial arts... I can't come up with any other reasons. Turn up that Futuristic techno! "How about I give you the finger (gesture) and call up my lawyer?" This truly is, the most plausible film of all time.

It embarrasses me to admit that I like it. It's like admiting that I am really still a little boy who watches cartoons. I realize that not everyone says this is terrible, but I thought it was a bizzare choice for the topic. I once heard two kids in a video store say that a movie was bad because it didn't have enough explosions. :)

Every time I watch it, I feel a little more retarded to the point that I start thinking in slow motion...

8MM--w/ Nick Cage--I honestly don't see why some people didn't like this film.

Crocodile Dundee--I don't know what the critics thought, I think it was a crowd pleaser, I liked it too.

Heat--Dinero and Pacino, some didn't like it, and I can think of others better, but it was ok

Blue Velvet--yes, it's somewhat preposterous, but it's a stylized picture, you got faults with that?

Remo Williams--pulpy, action hero

Uncle Buck--yeah, I found it somewhat heartwarming in a sentimental way

Forest Gump

Napoleon Dynamite

Death Race 2000

Mothra

Death Race 2000 is a classic!

TWILIGHT:  LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.
