Just curious to hear what everyone's first DVD title to rent from Netflix was. Mine was Snow Falling on Cedars I rented on 8/25/00.
If you don't remember, you can check by going to "your account" then clicking on "DVD Rental Activity", then "Show all returned rentals" at bottom of page.
I was working at Blockbusted back when that won best picture. I remember everybody coming in and saying that they would never watch another Academy Award show as long as they lived due to that.
I just signed up for netflix about a month ago, had thought about it many times but it wasnt until i got my blu-ray player that i actually did it though... i wanted to be able to watch them but didnt want to buy every movie i watched, now i'm totally hooked!
My first selection (in 2004) was Doctor Faustus with Richard Burton, followed by the Yes, Prime Minister series. My idea in signing up was to get stuff my local didn't carry. That local store still doesn't have Doctor Faustus, but their Brit tv is now marginally better.
Don't get me wrong -- it's a good store. 40-or-50,000 titles, and I'd be surprised if they had a UFC or WWE title using up that shelf space.
I joined simply becasue I got tired of going to BB. I thought at first I would just try it to see. After the first 3 came in the mail on 10-06 ... I knew I was HOOKED big time.
My first one was disk 1 of Season 1 of The Tudors. My local video store didn't have it, I got fed up with them, and that's when I signed up for Netflix. Since I was renting 1-5 movies a week from them, I'm guessing they're missing seeing me these days. LOL!
Well, years ago I had a Netflix account, but I shut that down for a while. I think I've done that two or three times. I just started a new account in March. According to that one, my first rental was "The Wire: Season 3, Disc 1"
