Has anyone else had problem with movies at the top of their queue taking alot longer to get. I used to not have to wait long for recent movies and in last couple of months, I can not seem to get recent movies for a long time. Several people have told me that Blockbuster has faster turn-around on movies. Wonder if anyone knows if this is true. Also, I was told that you can return them to store and get a new movie.
If you put a lot of "long wait" movies at the top of your queue, I think eventually Netflix will start giving priority to other users, those who don't rent as much or put as many popular titles in their queue. I always get new releases mailed to me the day they're released, but I think it's because I rarely put any in my queue.
And, yes, you can rent and return movies to Block Bluster but you pay more for it.
i put all my "long wait" titles at the top hoping that they'll get returned by someone when I happen to be the only available renter. not sure if it works as i've had one title sitting at the #1 spot for 2 months now.....grrrrrrr!!!!!

I seem to be getting movies from the bottom of my queue and the ones at the top and middle just sit there. I have the 3 a month and can not seem to get a recent release for a long time. I hope the previous reply is wrong about the reason I have long wait is because I like the recent releases and I do have the 3 at a time and return the movies as soon as I watch without them laying around the house for days. And I also put movies in my queue weeks before they are released and have NO luck getting the movies. I have not changed my viewing since starting about 1.5 years ago and up to about 2 months ago, I did not seem to have problem getting recent releases?
i'm on the 8 at a time plan and it seems like netflix is shipping something to me every day. that's partyly why i'm a little annoyed at the 2+ month long wait on the one movie. i think right now, my top 6 are all "long waits.

If I was paying for the 8 at a time and had to wait, i know I would be VERY upset. You should never have to wait since you have a movie going back every day most likely..
Thanks for the info. I have ~430 movies in my queue, so I never experience any movies from "the middle or bottom" being shipped.
My guess is that you tend to queue fairly current movies that are in high demand (say, Oscar nominees like Michael Clayton or No Country For Old Men). Since "everybody" wants those movies and since Netflix doesn't have 1 copy for every 7 million members, someone will have to wait. And apparently that someone is you.
I just checked my own queue and no. 1 is "very long wait" (a TV-show I'm nuts about and that I just have to see as soon as possible!) and then the next to have a (short) wait is no. 197. I too have some of the most wanted movies in my queue (Michael Clayton, No Country For Old Men, American Gangster), but they're very far down. By the time they reach the top of my queue, there won't be a wait.
So I can only advise you to be patient, and perhaps move some of the available movies to the top of the queue, that way you'll at least get to have some say about which movies are shipped to you (but it also spoils the surprise of getting a movie in the mail and not knowing what it is).
But I think a lot has to do with your distribution center, too. Not sure though. I have to say I'm feeling pretty special right now and I probably shouldn't be rocking the boat. :)
