Has anyone else had problem with movies at the top of their queue taking alot longer to get. I used to not have to wait long for recent movies and in last couple of months, I can not seem to get recent movies for a long time. Several people have told me that Blockbuster has faster turn-around on movies. Wonder if anyone knows if this is true. Also, I was told that you can return them to store and get a new movie.
i get the e-mail alerts of when everything is received and sent, and i check regularly throughout the day to see how this matches my queue status. sometimes, whatever disc is second in the envelope (yeah, i'm geeky enough to keep track of these things as I try to maximize my spending dollars), isn't processed until either the next day, which is usually the case, or much later in the day.
I know this will sound ugly but it's really not meant to be.
The people who use Netflix and basically just want or have the Newest most popular Releases need to Get Over It!! Just like others have said... They are not going to but a copy for every customer to rent. So it's just like going into a movie store and being disappointed that The New Movie EVERYONE wants to see is out and you just hope that it gets returned and you get a chance next time you walk in.
My Answer = Open up your minds just a little bit and Discover that there are far more superior Movies already out there that you have never seen before... Or Just be Patient... Will Smith and George Clooney will be coming to you soon.
I use a different strategy.
Put the movies in your queue in the order that you want to see them. If your top gets skipped, then it gets skipped. But the movie you are sent is the one you want most of the available.
If you place lower in the queue a movie you want now, then should they have more available than demand on the day they send your next disc, then you will miss an opportunity.
The only exception to this strategy is connected discs that you want to see in a special order. So, today, #1 in my queue is Rurouni Kenshin: Vol. 21. So I've knocked down disc 22 so that it won't come before 21.
What's seems to be throttled?
New releases.
Old releases connected to a new release. Blade Runner: Director's Cut is "Long Wait" because Final Cut has been released.
Old releases that are out of print and the Netflix copies are wearing out.
Children's movies that stay at home for multiple viewings.
I agree with Jeldobar. You will eventually get to see all the movies in your queue. Just have a little patience. Movies are still coming into your mailbox in the meantime so it's not like you don't have anything to watch. While you are waiting remind yourself of what your $XX.99 per month is getting you: thousands of titles to choose from, no late fees, no trip to a store to rent/return, a place to rate, review, share, compare and ,yes, rant about movies, and access to rare titles the local stores won't carry. I don't understand this anxiety to see New Releases the moment they come out. They are just movies, people!
To jeldobar and connie... the original question didn't mention new releases, that topic just came up as an example and evolved from there. I don't think anyone here expects to get the newest releases first, every single time. But some people are having problems receiving movies that aren't considered new releases or "popular" and that's something they're concerned about, and rightly so.
Crap. Without a smiley face this sounds like a scolding and it wasn't meant to; I just wanted to clear that up. :)
I joined Netflix almost nine years ago so I could see the latest flicks and not have to worry about late fees. I have used it that way for lo these many years, and it has worked very well, until fairly recently. I never saw the "Long Wait", never heard of the 'Very Long Wait" until about a year and a half ago. I don't know why things have changed, but they have, and not for the better IMO.
FWIW, I have no desire"To Get Over It!!". My desire to watch what I want is as legitimate as your desire to seem like an ass. It has not been a problem in the past so it would seem that Netlix's policies/practices have changed. I have no interest in BB, but I have rented a movie or two from Redbox and found that to be very handy, but that does get back to late fees and such. The low nightly price makes it a bit easier to swallow.
Netflix does what it does, and does it to my satisfaction...mostly, and I'm not too unhappy with that.
Oh Hoopy... You just need to look at the bigger picture. Netflix has thousands of New Customers every month..... You just need to learn how to share!! I know that is hard for us Americans but Hey ....... Enjoy Redbox
