Has anyone else had problem with movies at the top of their queue taking alot longer to get. I used to not have to wait long for recent movies and in last couple of months, I can not seem to get recent movies for a long time. Several people have told me that Blockbuster has faster turn-around on movies. Wonder if anyone knows if this is true. Also, I was told that you can return them to store and get a new movie.
I don't have a problem with sharing, my point was that "Long Wait" and "Very Long Wait" have been relatively recent developments. In the past Netlix has managed to fulfill new release requests in a timely manner, now they don't/can't/won't. It isn't a serious problem because there are always enough movies in my queue that I never lack for something to watch, and there is still that wonderful "No Late Fee" part.
Also, just as aside, Netflix has historically been slow for a month or two after the start of the new year. I always figured it was the gift cards/subscriptions. It usually picks back up again after a couple of months, although it didn't seem to last year.
I have noticed this problem as well. The last two times I've placed a new release at the top of my queue it has a "Very Long Wait" . One was "Bladerunner", which I gave up waiting and decided to purchase. The second was "Michael Clayton". Wonder how long I'll have to wait for that??? I don't usually have a lot of new releases in my queue because Most new releases are of no interest to me. I prefer classics. I believe this is the result of Netflix giving priority to newer members. My membership is for 3 discs at a time, and I usually only receive discs once or twice a week. My distribution center is in Louisville KY, except for the occasional disc (usually an older DVD) that is shipped from another state. Overall, I am very satisfied with Netflix..

Yep. It's just impossible for Netflix to buy enough copies of the new, hot releases to satisfy the overwhelming demand.
Incorrect on the flagging part, but I would perhaps stagger if they're all new releases. also, give NF a call - sometimes we don't know that something is off/ such a long wait and sometimes NF has to do research on it.
But, being the great service NF is - we don't have return dates. And a lot of customers keep movies a long long time. even the hot new titles. So they're aren't any to send out.
And also - a lower priced plan doesn't mean you'll get the new releases. They're are plenty of customers on the 8.99 plan that have the same perception of issues, and there are people w/ 23.99 plans that get a lot of the "hot" titles.
And yes, this is an exaggeration - but the studios don't make 7.5 million prints for NF customers , they don't make 1 million prints. Supply and demand works on their level as well.
And whilst frustrating, NF is not "New Release Flix" -NF loves all movies and prides themselves on it. While a lot of NR are exciting to see, and heck yeah I want to see them, they're just not enough to go around, especially w/ the no late fees policy/date.
Hoopy Frod - I don't have a problem with sharing, my point was that "Long Wait" and "Very Long Wait" have been relatively recent developments. As a generally happy member since 1999, I have to agree with Hoopy Frod. The long wait and very long wait is a new development, and has not gotten any better in the last month since the last post.

I have been a member since March 2001 and I also find the long wait and very long wait to be much more of a problem lately than it ever has been. I don't mind short waits, but with 7 movies on the top of my queue with varying waits of short, long and very long you would think the odds of one becoming available would be fairly good odds. But week after week all of the movies with waits get bypassed.
This dismal Netflix performance is a huge deviation from their history. I don't expect Netflix to purchase movie copies for every member, but their current ratio is dismal. It seems either an influx of new customers has out paced their purchasing, or they are having financial problems and can't afford to purchase sufficient copies of movies to service their large customer base.
My queue is maxed, and I had a couple of older movies that had a "very long wait". So, I made the decision to sacrifice them, and add two other movies in their place. I did the same with two others whose availability was unknown.
