If ETTGS wins for best documentary, although he is the director, he cannot accept the award. Is he planning an Oscar stunt?

Permalink Reply by macroman on December 28, 2010 at 7:15pm One film I didn't include on the above list and really liked was:
The Namesake(20069-a rewatch.
Permalink Reply by macroman on January 5, 2011 at 9:54pm A documentary I started watching Dec. 31 and finished Jan 1:
Sharkwater=great documentary on sharks and why killing them, mainly for their fins(shark fin soup), will greatly impact our oxygen supply on land. This film, made by one diver & biologist, is greatly responsible for starting the save the shark movement.
Similiar to The Cove.
Permalink Reply by Pihk on January 5, 2011 at 10:32am Walkabout(Australia. l970)=a rewatch.
I'm a Roeg fan but this was pretty disappointing. I heard there was lots of studio interference. I know Roeg movies grow with each viewing but this one had the least impact on me the first go around than any of his others. I love how many Roeg films are on IW, though...
Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story
This is probably one of the most important political documentaries ever made. Certainly the most relevant one I have seen in the last 10 years. Every American needs to peel themselves away from Glee and American Idol and watch this...

Permalink Reply by Scone on January 23, 2011 at 1:20pm I just watched Boogey Man and thought it was excellent. I had forgotten about Atwater's last year. Shortly after he learned he had a cancerous brain tumor, his face became grotesquely bloated from steroids and his demeanor changed from cocksure to repentant.
Everyone who he screwed along the way, got a note asking for forgiveness.
