What the Fuck? I downloaded "Fear of a Black Hat" and the entire movie is censored! It's even rated "R"! It's not just words, it's gestures too. It's like watching George Carlin with no sound. If I were the makers of this film I'd be pissed off! I find it personally insulting that either Netflix or Starz is treating us like children. I don't know if the DVD is the same, but don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself. It's right in the beginning. Are there any other films that anyone has run into with this same problem?
Just discovered this trying to instantly view "Fear of a Black Hat." It's the damn censored version. The profanity and gesticulations are vital parts of this movie. Netflix, please make available the unedited, uncensored version in the view-on-demand queue.
I Googled this topic after watching the movie "Bong Water" - rated "R", it was also censored on me. Clearly this is the work of a fundamentalist xtian nut, because they stupidly blurred over the sexually oriented art within the movie scenes! PATHETIC!
they do provide the material
They stream what is given them to provide.
and have this forum to gather information from
You, me, we all here are not Netflix. Netflix links to this site but it is not theirs
Netflix is fully aware of the issue
And have decided to stream what is given to them rather than nothing at all. If they were to not offer it, people would be screaming about NF not offering a controversial title.
Netflix could provide XXX movies but they do not as far as I know so, they apparently have some problems with adult movies for adults
There's a HUGE difference between XXX movies and an edited version of Bong Water.

Just Google* Netfilx censorship* and see all the complaints. Netflix would be stupid not to read all the comments found on-line.

True, but I'm not the only one with this complaint. Netflix's choice to use StarZ, and their censorship methods, may ultimately hurt overall business for them.

Don't misunderstand me, I wasn't saying they were in the same category. My argument was that they "could" offer porn to consenting adults BUT, they don't for fear of backlash from the conservative viewers who desire censorship in America. The movie Bong Water was also shown in a censored format for the very same reason (see previous comment for repeated clarification). Again, either Netflix recognizes or they may suffer in the free market.
I belive that this was an argument that people gave to WalMart when they refused to sell music with vulgar lyrics. They were cleaned up or not sold in the stores. Well, they seem to have proven that the free market just might agree with them.
Accurate information can never hurt anyone. Unless you are getting bad, but accurate, news from your doctor. Or private investigator. Or your accountant. :)
