If you were stranded on a desert island and could only pick ten movies, one short, and one season of a TV series for a total of twelve, what would it be?   Evidently it's going to have to be something that you could watch over and over (and probably already have seen over and over).  I know it's a hard exercise because it omits so much, and being a movie fan, it's seems an impossible task, right?  I haven't selected my total list yet, and the short feature I'm unsure of, but might be a cartoon or a Laurel and Hardy short.  Like I said, it's a bit hard to decide.  You can't say Godfather 1 thru 3 or Star Wars 1 thru 6 or whatever as a complete title and have it count as one selection, you have to site specific movies from the series and sequels.

Movies:

1. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

2. Star Wars: A New Hope

3. 2001: A Space Odyssey

4. Midnight Cowboy

5. Godfather part 1

6. Mysterious Island--Ray Harryhausen

7. The Time Machine--original w/ Rod Taylor

8. Red River--gotta have some John Wayne

9. Woodstock--gotta have some rock music

10. Fantasia--gotta have some classical music

Man that was tough.  I think I'll be ok though once I adjust to coconut milk and seafood.

TV series--Star Trek--season one or two, I haven't decided on that yet.  Anyway, that gets the ball rolling and the head thinking.

We don't get Verizon here, wish we did.  I kind of live in the backwater, with the gator hunters and such.  My brother has it in Dallas, as you said, it's the bomb.

Although if my plan got cancelled and I was stuck without service, I think I would have to bring 2 Kubrick movies with me, Dr Strangelove and The Shining.

I'd also bring Jackie Brown, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Case of the Scorpion's Tale because these titles have huge replay value for me and I never tire of them for whatever reason. Also I'd probably bring along one of Ben Stiller's funnier movies (your Dodgeball or your Tropic Thunder, for e.g.) For the season of a TV show, I'd throw a dart and randomly grab a season of either Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The short would be the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he battles that bald evil scientist at his castle and that big hairy thing that wears sneakers.

As for the rest of the slots? I'm going to be stranded all alone, right? That can wear on any social animal after awhile...

So the rest of my backpack will be stuffed with high quality porn. ;-p

Oh and I'd be remiss to also mention the Tom & Jerry episode where they are in the castle with the mad scientist that transfers animals into other bodies.  Greatest Tom & Jerry EVER.

Those are all good titles--at some point in time, I need to pick up a copy of the Shining.  I'll run across a good copy in a pawn shop one of these days.

I remember that Bug Bunny cartoon with the hairy beast monster.  Oddly when I read the description I thought of another odd cartoon, and I don't even remember who the cartoon characters were that was in it.  All I do remember is both were trying to out-do each other, and the ending had them swiggin' this growth formula stuff, and growing enormously, out distancing the size of the earth.  I think it might have been Merry Melodies, maybe Sylvester the Cat, I just can't remember, does that ring a bell?

I think most males could identify with the porn dvds.  While I was also thinking about this I thought of the episode of The Mighty Boosh from the second season, the guys get stuck on a desert island.   They get into an argument, and draw a line in the sand, and one makes a girl out of coconuts, and it sort of makes the other one jealous.  The other makes a girlfriend too, mayhem  and absurdity ensues, and they make these hotrods out of bamboo.  Pretty freakin' funny episode.

And . . .
