Permalink Reply by Netflowers on March 1, 2012 at 6:33pm I signed up for Amazon Prime. Mainly for the free shipping deal. Quickly found out that
most of the stuff offered for free streaming is also available on Netflix. The newer movies or releases
are $1.99 per view. (Not touching that) Also did not like the format of scrolling through the pages
looking for something to watch, it made me run back to Netflix with their scrolling system of mini posters. I watched maybe 2 movies a couple of weeks ago, and I cannot even remember what they were. I signed up on a trial basis, don't know if I will keep it or not. If i keep buying stuff from Amazon and with the free shipping I might just keep it for a while. Doubt if I will be using the streaming though (the choices seemed to be very limited). Out of 5 Stars I will give it 2 1/2 Stars.
Permalink Reply by Slappy on March 2, 2012 at 12:14pm I got 6 free months of Prime and up to 4 years of it at $49 for being a student and seeing as I have about 3+ left with going part-time I couldn't pass up such a good deal. I have yet to watch a movie off of it though.
I honestly have only really used Netflix. I have never needed new movies, now or better yet yesterday so their selection has always been just fine for me. The Prime is worth it alone for the shipping and I will probably eventually dig into their movies more but a quick skim through what is free and I didn't see much that I couldn't just get with Netflix. I just got one of my packages a whole day early from Prime today so I will definitely keep it just for shopping.
The other services I could live without, maybe Hulu Plus one day but the rest I don't really need personally. Hopefully this helps some people figure out which service is best for them. I agree fully with you though I personally wouldn't get Prime just for the movies either.
Permalink Reply by hotrod on June 10, 2012 at 3:29am I recently started my free trial of Amazon Prime. What a deal! Free streaming videos and since my wife uses a Kindle, free book rentals. I seriously thought about ending my Netflix streaming service. First problem, no Amazon Prime app for my Samsung smart tv. Ok, so I can shell out $80 for a Roku Box. Before I spend the bucks, I decided to check out the free prime videos. Second problem, as stated by Netflowers, it was a hassle to find the free videos and to also get a synopsis of the video. Some prime users complained about the TV series. The first episodes were free, but on some shows you had to pay for the other episodes. I decided that Netflix was a much better deal. My smart tv includes the Netflix app. As for kindle books, my wife can continue to use Overdrive thru the library. As for the free 2 day shipping, it is not available to customers in Alaska or Hawaii where I live. I already clicked the DO NOT UPGRADE button on the Amazon site. I'm sticking with Netflix.
Netflix isn't great but it is really cheap. More people should consider that fact.
Oh My God! I just said something positive about Netflix! The Gods of entertainment will strike me down! I'm truly sorry. I'll grovel. I'll say ten Hail Mary's. I'll spend an hour in the wrong side of the confessional booth. Oh Lord hear my prayer!
