I ran across this link from Rotten Tomatoes, which gets responses from various actors, directors, and other people on their top five favorite movies. Just from perusing the Hugo Weaving entre I find he enjoyed three films I was unfamiliar with, and two I enjoy a lot as well: Lindsay Anderson's If... and Kubrick's Barry Lyndon. I like how he prefaces his favorites by saying, these are my top five films today--tomorrow it might be another list. At any rate, here's the link if you'd like to read it:
www.rottentomatoes.com/news/columns/column.php?id=62
My top five today might be:
1. Midnight Cowboy
2. 2001: A Space Odyssey
3. King Kong (original)
4. Dirty Harry
5. Dr. Strangelove
Yep, tomorrow it would probably be something else.

Permalink Reply by David on July 14, 2012 at 5:30pm I haven't seen any of these although I've heard of Woman in the Dunes. Perhaps Sev might chime in on whether or not these are too great or not, but I'd have to watch them first :) But thanks for the post.
We've still got to get you to watch Woman in the Dunes. It's a must experience!
Permalink Reply by David on July 17, 2012 at 8:02am I will Q it. So many movies and so little time :)

- Zombi 3
- Lady Terminator
- Eternal Evil of Asia
- Fascination (1979)
- The Toxic Avenger
All indisputable classics...
Permalink Reply by YnEoS on July 13, 2012 at 5:20pm Lady Terminator is a hell of a lot of fun!
Been meaning to watch Eternal Evil of Asia for a long time, after seeing some weird screenshots of a guy with a penis head. How does it stack up against other weird HK films?
Permalink Reply by oedipussy on July 28, 2012 at 3:28pm I dunno if I can say how Eternal Evil of Asia stacks up - it's not the greatest but I enjoyed it. If you like some weird Oriental horror, Hong Kong slapstick comedy and ghost sex mixed in with your skin flicks you'd probably like it. I think it's better than stuff like Seeding of a Ghost or Erotic Ghost Story, which is kind of a similar movie.
Permalink Reply by David on July 14, 2012 at 5:33pm I don't know if I've seen Zombi 3 or not? I think I saw 1 & possibly 2. I've seen Toxic Avenger, and it's a fun, cult film, I dunno if I'd call it a fave, but thanks for the post.
Permalink Reply by oedipussy on July 28, 2012 at 3:31pm Zombi 1 is just the Italian release of Dawn of the Dead, Zombi 2 is the Fulci film better known as Zombie that has the shark vs. zombie fight scene, and Zombi 3 is the sequel to that one.
It's a bunch of fun:

Permalink Reply by oedipussy on July 28, 2012 at 3:33pm Yep, definitely one of my favorite directors, although I've only seen like 5 of his films so far. I just ordered Lips of Blood which I'm pretty excited about seeing.
