A Netflix Community

For the last 5 months Netflix is not posting the last movies that all my friends have rated. You can only see a few of the last movies rated, and only if they were rented at Netflix. All of the other movies we are watching elsewhere, (HBO, theater, instant watch) are not listed like before.
I used to love checking what my friends were watching and their opinions of the movies. Now the latest rated movies do not even appear in the "recently rated movies". Only a selection of what Netflix considers pertinent. I do not pretend to see a list of 2000 movies there, but I would like to be able to see at least the last 10-20 movies my friends have recently rated. Go ahead, ask a friend what they have rated lately (not rented from Netflix) and you'll see it is not there. I don't see the point in this change, it is absurd.

You are correct, and you are not alone.

Have you called them? I have called them twice and they seem to have no idea what I am talking about. i am hoping that people will make enough calls about this to generate change. The friends community is a major thing in keeping me loyal to Netflix, but it is starting to go downhill...

If you follow the link in my above post, you'll see others have called.

I hadn't seen your link.... I see that it might be useless to keep complaining about this? How sad...

More then likely it has to do with their implementation of the 1 million dollar algorithm improvement. I'm sure the new math has to look at some numbers a slightly different way. Perhaps the old friend ratings are not used in the equation?

This problem predates the winner of the Netflix prize - and has nothing to do with recommendations. It's the "recent activity" of friends and faves, which since July 31st for some members - not all (and, if memory serves me right, not you) - has only shown "reviewed", "shipped" and "returned" titles, not "rated".

just want to let u know how disappointed my family is with netflix. we have been members since 2005. and your company is discriminating against disabled people. people who only get paid 1x monthly. for some reason your billing department can not get this figured out, that we need our payment taken out on the 3rd of each month. thanks to your ignorance my husband will not be able to purchase all of his medications this month(and this has happened before!) We have called at least 6x over the past years to get this situation under control. because of your sick billing department you are discrimainating against people who are not able to go to the movies, and now they are not able to watch movies at home either. It is a real shame in this day and age that yu are unable to make a commitment to take out our payment on the same day of the month, every month. customer service would not work with us at all and i am reporting you to the better business bureau and the national association for the mentally ill. I will also be reporting to my local newspapers and the national facebook, etc, internet groups that you are a disgrace and will not work with the mentally challenged.

David,
This isn't Netflix - just a bunch of movie fans who mostly are also Netflix customers. I'm confused though - I get billed every month on the same day. It's been the same day since I began years ago unless I upgrade and get an additional billing during the month. I'd think if you join on the evening of the 2nd and make no changes to your account you would get billed every month on the 3rd. But we at this site have nothing to do with billing so I'd recommend you either try rejoining on the 2nd, buy a gift subscription and use it yourself so you prepay for a few months of service or call Customer Service again. We can't help with this issue.

What an absurd and embarrassing post. Shame on you.

Netflix owes you nothing beyond what they offer in their terms of service. No one is forcing you to purchase their service, nor are they obligated to offer services that satisfy the whims of every person in the country. This is still America, and you have the freedom to protest by not continuing to use Netflix.

It isn't Netflix's fault that your husband can't purchase his meds. Suggesting this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen posted here, and that's saying something. If spending money on Netflix puts your meds budget at risk, you have some seriously screwed up priorities.

You go ahead and file complaints with all of the entities that you like, they will most assuredly find your whining as kooky as I do. I'm cutting and pasting this post for posterity, it has more staying power than Casablanca.

what does this have to do with the friends site? Create another thread, you might get more attention that way
