Netflix Movie Fans

I have a 4 month old Vista system, works perfectly. Tried watching movies on Netflix, had to download and install Silverlight 3. Worked fine for 2 days, 2 movies. third day, third movie, Netflix tells me I need silverlight again. Tried intalling again and download failed as silverlight already installed. Deleted existing Silverlight, went to Netflix, tried watching a movie and had to install Silverlight all over again.
Two day later same thing over again. So why won't Netflix recognize my Siverlight for more than 2 days ???

I have no idea what could be wrong... Have you talked to Netflix about it? Call 1-866-402-2616 for help with Instant Watch. I'll be interested to hear back, other people might have the same problem.

Well, I called Netflix at that number.  I explained the problem, and the Netflix assistant insisted that it cannot be a Netflix or Silverlight problem, and that it must be something wrong with my computer (e.g., "malware").

I still suspect there is some relatively simple solution, involving a minor reconfiguration I could do, if only someone would tell me what the blazes it is...

Anyone else???
Yeah, use the Help, About, About (browser name) menu on your browser and tell us if, when it's NOT working, it's a 64-bit version. A new-ish system might have both a 32-bit browser (which would work with Silverlight) AND a 64-bit version (which would not). It's not always clear, if you have both, which one's running at any given moment.
I am using Explorer 7.0.601.18000. My operating system is a Vista 32 bit and all programs are 32 bit even though my CPU is a dual AMD 2.3gig, 64 bit processor. I have tried Explorer 8 and hate it so stick with 7. I also tried Mozilla Firefox and exact same problem with Silverlight. So to answer your question, 32 bit explorer 7 is alwasy running.
Thanks
Bob
I hate to keep guessing, but that's the nature of forum discussions. How 'bout whether or not you're installing it with or without admin privelege? In other words, do you switch between an admin and non-admin user account?
I have my admin turned off compleatly, Win Vista never tells me I don't have access to anything. I know lots of people with Vista have no problems with Netflix or
Silverlight at all but I also know there has to be some of other folks with this same problem. I use AVG anti-virus program and it is not intrusive into explorer. Firefox gives me the same results, as Firefox also uses Silverlight to watch flicks on Netflix.
This isn't pertinent to your problem, but you ARE using an Administrator account -- as your ONLY account. That's why you're never bugged for the admin password: The account you're using IS the Admin account. That's actually not good computing practice (though it most likely has nothing to do with your current problem) as any malware that manages to sneak onto your system ALSO has admin priveleges, since you're always running on an admin account.

I'm out of ideas -- a new system should have no trouble running new programs, Silverlight included. Some setting, some where, is the likely culprit, but I have no more guesses. Anyone else?
Thanks 2McAbre, took your advise and also downloaded EP8. Tried Netflix and worked fine. Strange thing is the I looked everywhere and can't find Silverlight on my system. It is not in Programs, not listed on the program list under remove programs in control panel, does not show under advance search either. When I went to Silverlight and tried to downlod the program, it tells me I already have it. Must have come in as a part of EX8. Anyway, will give this a few days to see if the same problem crops up.
thanks
Bob
JDoors is correct - 64-bit browsers can sometimes cause the install loop. The other reason that most commonly causes this is running a browser with add-ons disabled. Make sure your add-ons are enabled and that will hopefully fix it for you in a 32-bit browser.

You can try going to www.silverlight.net/fox to see if the video plays there. If it won't play there either, it's a Silverlight/browser issue. If it does play but Netflix won't, then call our support team at 866-716-0414 and we can help.
Well, third day and silverlight still working so this is one day more than it's ever worked before so think the answers solved this problem. Thanks
Well, it's three day since my last reply and today, problem is back. Netfix says I do not have Silverlight installed and when I click the link, Silverlight says Iits already installed. Searched my C drive and no silverlight. Tried using control center and remove program, no silverlight. Crap, I give up!!
