Just so you know, I'm a famous hollywood actor and I've got lawyers that will be HAPPY to sue you for EVERYTHING you're worth, which I'm sure isn't much since you're probably from Alabama or Texas or something. I'm from HOLLYWOOD, do you even know what that means, you hick?

I've been reading this topic and wow. First off, I've been a member of Netflix since 2004 and I've owned an Xbox 360 since 2005 so I've been a part of both worlds for many years now.

In a sense, I can see where they are coming from and what Xbox users are complaining about. However, personally I feel the instant watch service is great since I prefer watching older movies and many of them are available on instant watch. New movies are not necessarily better movies and in most cases, they are not better than older movies. Of course, I know some of my friends who have the same mindset that new movies are cool to watch and old movies are not worth the time but that's absolutely not true.

I also love instant watch because I can watch a single episode of some tv series whereas if I had to rent the dvd, it may contain 2-3 episodes I've watched and 1 that I haven't which wouldn't be worth it. Instant watch is very convenient and like others have said, the selection will only get better since it's a fairly new service. There are definitely a lot of movies I've never heard of and would not consider watching, but the selection is decent enough. Right now, I'm having a blast watching some of my favorite older tv shows on instant watch.

The main problem I have with instant watch at the moment is that you need a really fast internet connection or else the quality of the streaming is subpar so many factors could cause the movie to stop and adjust to low quality like others surfing on the internet on the same network and wireless connections. A Netflix rep explained to me that this is why the service is free because not everyone can have the same experience with instant watch.

That's not exactly true. I'm sure that's one of the factors but even when I was averaging 30Mb, I still had a reaaaaaaally crappy movie watching experience.

I just tried again right now and as always, the movie is choppy and sound is not synched. Oh well... I've waited months for this, I can wait a few more months for them to iron out the kinks.

wow i just looked and im seeing im going to loose 33 movies from my list for my xbox on Jan 1st 2009. I hope they add some good movies to replace all the good ones being removed.

a bunch of them are probably the Starz movies .... It's just like you have the Starz movie channel ... they switch shit up every month

I don't know if anyone else brought this up but if you remember for those who have 360's all of the movies still "Unavailable for xbox" are all gone. (which are ironically most of the Sony picture movies) I know how they are going to be switching things up and all, but it all seems really suspicious to me. Before xbox went live with Netflix I never noticed the ending date of those specific streams. Anyways, Happy watching to all!

I think that must be something new. I have a list of 136 movies on my instant watch and 46 of them expire on Dec. 1. Well, there was 3 or 4 that expire on dec. 25, merry christmas, I guess.
They are some of the good movies I was able to find, too.

A clockwork orange, 2001:space odyssey, the shining, Ben-hur, Grumpy old men, Superfly, A dog day afternoon, Lean on Me, Jackass the movie, the wild bunch, the karate kid, jerry maquire, mr. smith goes to washington, red dawn, dirty dozen. the cowboys, enter the dragon, bullitt, mad max, misery, falling down, tootsie, the people vs. larry flynt, ghostbusters, beetlejuice, little shop of horrors, new jack city and there are some more I skipped or didn't name.

I was kinda bummed when I first got the xbox and netflix...the movie selection wasn't great. Then a bunch of pretty good movies showed up. I popped them in my list and would add some more every week or so. There was a time when some said "unavailable on xbox" then it stopped saying that. I was pretty stoked. Every week new shit showed up, some good...some bad...but more than enough to satisfy my 8 dollar a month subscription fee. Now all these good movies are going away??? Does anyone know why? Im not sure if I can watch that many movies between now and jan. 1. Christmas is coming and I do have kinda have half a life.
Oh, and there are some that have already disappeared out of my list. They are listed now down at the bottom of the page. One is Slapshot, Rushmore and 25th hour. Oh yeah, and tango in paris...but not really interested in that one.
Are these movies going to be gone for good? Or will they come back?

IW movies constantly come and go due to expiration of negotiated streaming rights between the studios and Netflix.

Think of it as a subscription to the Starz channel on your TV cable box, the movie selection comes and goes, the difference is that you get to pick what is showing right now on the Starz selection on Netflix , but its from the same basic set of movies that Starz has licenced. Starz has a pipeline of new movies coming to replace the ones that are dropping off the service.
