IS "Clearplay OnDemand" coming for Netflix streaming?

I have used ClearPlay DVD players for years to filter movies in compliance with the “Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005” which allows for editing of movies in the form of omitting/muting & skipping content.

In recent months I have switched to primarily using my XBOX 360 to stream movies using Netflix streaming.  I long for a filter service through netflix, but historically have only had clearplay on Netflix DVDs not streaming.

I recently came accross the terms "ClearPlay OnDemand" which appearantly according to Clearplay's international site offers services to subscribers to Cable TV, Satellite TV, IPTV and Streaming Video Service Providers.

I would love to see "ClearPlay OnDemand" or any filtering service be an option for Streaming Movies so I can use my XBOX with Netflix as my primary (or only) media center and still have the option to filter objectionable materials out.

Sure you can, but the bigger question is should you.

Heh, like Mikey said in Goonies "That's my mom's most favorite piece!"
Covering the breasts was a silly and childish way to handle it. Wonder if he was giggling while he covered it up.

If he was smart he should have grabbed a handful first, that's what I would have done.
Ha ha! I wonder if the nipples on the statue are worn down?
I haven't been to DC for awhile so probably not.
which does preach to a younger audience and doesn't going to those "adult" topics right away. It doesn't mean that they won't eventually
This I think would be more similar to MPAA ratings than ClearPlay is similar to it.

Thank you for your clear comments.  Our country was founded by people extremely concerned about the faith and morality of posterity.  We just got back from D.C. and all the great national monuments are tangible shrines to their devout belief in God and in a civil society.  Freedom begins with God and civility, something I'm afraid we've all forgotten somehow.  Not that we all have to believe the same thing, but we MUST if we believe in freedom, believe in other's right to live by their own conscience.  I'm amazed at the anger expressed toward your professed beliefs and I for one am very grateful for parents such as you who are raising a future generation of positive, morally strong youth who will hopefully run our country with civility, compassion, integrity, fidelity and honor.  Virtues harder and harder to find portrayed in movies, but in the few that do, I vote with my time and my dollar.  Thank you for your comments.  I know there's a substantial market to good clean positive films that make you want to go out and do some good after watching them.  Nothing else is worth my time in this short life I have on earth!

Nothing like a big phallos to remind you of God.

Actually freedom begins with "We the people" - and interestingly God isn't mentioned anywhere in that document.

Virtues harder and harder to find portrayed in movies,

Seems like you think that what you see in movies is real life.

Let's be real...television edits ALL the time and a lot of times, that has been the alternative people wait for, instead of buying or going to the theater, since there is that provision & buffer called censorship (not to mention saving time, money & energy lol). However, even TV ratings have changed!
BTW, I got here (to this site & thread) bcuz I was wondering the same thing. I'd like to watch so many movies but it's ruined when the content is not up to par with my life standards, which do reflect my entertainment standards. And yeaa, sometimes it's just one word, one act of violence and while it all makes the film what it is, it's hard to pass a gem by bcuz of a portion of content that you believe really didn't need to be there.

Troy, I couldn't agree with you more.  I have Netflix and ClearPlay and am looking for a way to use ClearPlay with streaming Netflix.  You're not alone!

I asked Don Atkinson - don@clearplay.com (CEO of ClearPlay) via email, because I wanted to forward what he said to me, to another interested party.  Don's immediate reply was "can we talk over the phone?"

I was instantly disappointed at this response, because #1 I wasn't going to have an email to forward.  #2 I realized he probably had a lengthy explanation... or at least I hoped he did.

I called Don and told him that I noticed all the DVD bins in Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc were turning into Blu-Ray bins and wanted to know when we can expect the next gen blu-ray player or any kind of Next Gen player form ClearPlay.  I followed up my statement by saying that as soon as I got my own Blu-Ray player I became anti-dvd, due to how grainy it looks on an HD DVD, despite the latest ClearPlay or any Blu-Ray player able to upconvert a DVD into a "higher res" playback image.

Don's first rebuttle was "we feel most of our customer base isn't concerned with the quality of the movie image and they are more concerned with the content."  I then went back to the initial point that DVD is on its way out and that Blu-Ray has established itself as the new consumer format.  Then asked what they plan on doing, going forward, since hard copy media (DVD & Blu-ray) is by far not the only means of watching a movie and asked what they plan on doing for covering streaming content, like NetFlix.  I left it open-ended at that point, and Don flat out said "Well, we don't have any plans on making a Blu-Ray player."

He said they were trying to evaluate their options.  I thought to myself "well, that's good, but Blu-Ray won the format war almost 8 years ago and streaming content has been more than accessible for almost 6 years now."

I have lost all hope in ClearPlay.  I love the concept, but they are just not going forward with their filtering and soon they are going to find themselves offering a solution for a format that has been replaced by Blu-Ray and they will be left "holding the bag."

After my conversation was over, I realized that because I had a phone conversation, Don let me get away with asking specific questions, getting specific answers, verbally, not written, preventing me from having his answers from his email replies, preventing me from sharing his answers, from him directly.

Seems like he is scared to let people know about what he told me, as he should.  Hope they get some solution that is not out-dated.

Just a minor correction: Blu-Ray did not win the format war 8 years ago, try 4 (Blu-Ray hasn't even been around 8 years).
