Netflix Movie Fans

This is the place to list your profile if you've chosen to join our protest against the recent changes on the Netflix website (read a lot more here). If you've replaced your review text with a protest note like the one below (feel free to copy this, but it doesn't have to be identical), post a link to your Netflix profile or your reviews so we can keep track of our progress and hand out some assistance:

Here are some samples you can use wholly or in part (feel free to correct the date, for instance):

"Dear reader, Until March 12th 2010 this was an actual real review. Because the new design that NetfIix has implemented for movie detail pages removed information about what our friends rated movies, as well as top 10 lists and the ability to send movie notes, I've decided to move my reviews elsewhere. I see no reason to supply NetfIix with free content when NetfIix does not support its users. To see my reviews click on my profile picture to the left and follow the link there to the NetfIix Community. If NetfIix decides to reverse its stance on this issue, I'll happily bring my reviews back, but until then, this note will take its place. I apologize for the inconvenience, dear reader, and hope you'll forgive this non-review."

"This was a movie review until NetfIix decided to remove friend features. Since NetfIix seems to place no value on its most active members, I'm no longer going to be an active member. The new design that they have implemented for movie detail pages removed friends' ratings, top 10 lists and the ability to send movie notes. If NetfIix decides to reverse its stance on this issue, I'll start writing reviews again. Until then, I am no longer going to give them free content and I've decided to move my reviews elsewhere. If you are reading this, please call NetfIix andhttp://www.netflix.com/StrangerReviews?prid=608651759&lnkctr=fs... ask them to give us our community features back. I apologize for this non-review."

"Under normal circumstances I might have reviewed this DVD, but when NF implemented the new DVD page detail design they removed friends' ratings, top 10 lists and the ability to send movie notes. That made it harder for me and others to find movies we'll like. If you are reading this, please call NetfIix and ask them to give us the community features back. I apologize for this non-review."

Like I've said before, I'm just observing.

Thank goodness you're here for objective reporting! Perhaps a career with Fox News is ahead of you...
LOL!
Hi all,
Because it doesn't sound like Netflix is going to change position on this, we've just added the option to copy your friends and faves from Netflix.

Note: Your Netflix friends must also copy their friends, in order for you to maintain the relationship. Also we refer to "Faves" as "Following", but they're the same thing.

Here's the import link with the option to copy your Netflix friends:
http://www.likeminds.com/likeminds/user/0/movies/ratings/import

I'd appreciate if a few people could test it out and send feedback.

Thanks,

- Alan (Founder of LikeMinds)
Just tried it and it didn't work. Hm....Just get a error message that it failed. Shoot.
Hm,
I'll look into it. Do you have a copy of the error message? Did it say authentication request failed or something else?
Ok, I found the issue. It was only a problem if you were NOT using SSL. Should work now either way. Let me know if you still have issues.
I got an error message too.
Do you have copy of the error message? Was this with the Netflix import or from Amazon?
Ok, I found the issue. It was only a problem if you were NOT using SSL. Should work now either with SSL or without it.
Hey Mark,

You're allowed to basically be anonymous on our site, so can I ask exactly which information are you worried about? You don't have to use your real email (we don't confirm it), real name, or any other PII to register, so I'm not entirely sure where the concern is. The item pages are currently available to the public but I just haven't created an easy way to browse them yet. Try this one :)

Regarding the business model & advertising question. We don't currently display ads but will eventually put links up for the Roku or other streaming devices. We're also setup as an affiliate programs with amazon, itunes and a couple other services where if you buy a dvd, book or song from out site we get a commission.

Regarding the privacy policy it's a standard privacy policy. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure the point of calling that point out is just to make anyone aware of the possibility that change in control of company means change in control of setting the privacy policy. If that's the case you could always just delete your ratings.

Thanks,

Alan

P.S. That's a Picard uniform and he could never dies! :) Came close a couple times, but let's not get into that here...
I just went through your quick, clean registration process, Alan, because I wanted to know what Mark was on about. I had to give you an e-mail address which - as you say - you do not confirm, so no big deal there.

The big deal for me is the obvious one from that point. I have to give you the logins for the accounts I want to sync. I did that way back in the day with AvantGo, but times have changed. If you want them locally, you have to pull my drive and brute-force AES 128.

You're offering a great service, there's just no way I'm going to give any third or fourth party my login.
I keep reading about OAuth, I suppose that would be the way to go? (I don't know anything about it, so I'm just tossing a recurring name out there.)
