Netflix Movie Fans

Am I alone, or do I have some company noticing the ever-growing long and very long wait classifications at the top of my queue? Is Netflix keeping up with customer demands, or falling behind in timely ship ability due to increasing number of customers? Is there a practical solution to this phenomenon?

Yes its called "This Happens Every Year around Xmas"... Wait for Netflix to figure out how many new subscribers that have acquired during the holiday so they can adjust for the new load.

Its not really an inconvenience to have to wait for "those" titles for a bit while they re-balance, considering there are 100 thousand plus other titles and 17+ thousand instant watch titles to fill in the time till its so.
Well sir the problem is that a lot of us hate watching the same movie more than once and some, like myself only watch the new releases and Netflix hardly ever get more than 7 or 8 NEW realeases per month; if that. There idea of a new realese is a redone title released to them and it was usually released to the other video stores a year earlier. To date there has been over 125 movies released to DVD this year but try to find them on netflix without knowing the title. Even knowing the title only about 49 have been inventoried.
I have a similar problem, and I dont see why. They say that if they cant get your movie they will send from another area, but that aint happening either.
Mike, I bet you have less than 500 movies in your queue. Add some that are available to ship to you and I bet NF will be happy to send them. You too Marcus.
My que is less than 500 in fact. However I have about that many dvds at home, therefore, my list is short. Dont get me wrong there are older movies or streaming movies I can watch, but it is frustrating to see the same movies on the list week after week
And why do titles cycle between 'Now', 'Short Wait' and back to 'Long Wait' before I can get them? Is there a timing strategy I am missing here?

It is just an estimation of the title's availability.

Doing as Turnip says will increase your chances. The idea is to have a slot open up on Monday morning when the new discs begin shipping.

If it's not available anywhere in the country at the time your slot is open, they just skip and go to the next title.
I'd have to ask how many movies do you have in your queue, and what are their titles...

I keep two different queues, and both have a very small number of titles available. If one of them has mostly long waits on all the titles, then I change it so that no movies come from that queue for awhile, and I get all the movies from my other queue.

Heck to be honest... I have 20 titles in my Anime queue (4 in wait, 1 not released yet), and 20 in my Movie queue (6 in wait, 9 not released yet)... I add titles as I read recommendations here, or as I come across them in the previews on other movies I've watched.

Yet I always get something from each queue, and often get two (an extra shipped from another state) from my anime queue, because I watch a lot of series anime, and the disks are spread all over the US. If there are new releases (yes I like new releases, just not always the mainstream ones) I usually always get one on Tuesday, but if not I always get one of the others.
We have been NF subscribers for a long time, and I too have noted significant worsening of this condition over the past months. It would appear that NF puts significant investment into promotion and marketing, but doesn't accordingly prioritize keeping title stock up with customer demands.
They should buy all the Blockbusters' inventory since they are going out of business fast.
It has nothing to do with the number of movies in their inventory! It's about the number of movies they have that their CUSTOMERS want to watch. Some of us only watch well made movies we never saw before.
