Los Angeles — Natalie Wood’s death certificate has been changed to reflect some of the uncertainties and lingering questions surrounding the actress’ drowning more than 30 years ago in the Pacific Ocean off Southern California.
The document was amended earlier this month and shifts Wood’s death from an accidental drowning to “drowning and other undetermined factors,” according to a copy of the certificate obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press.
The amended document also now states that the circumstances of how Wood ended up in the waters off Catalina Island in November 1981 are “not clearly established.”
The changes occurred nine months after sheriff’s homicide investigators renewed their inquiry into Wood’s death shortly before its 30th anniversary.
Chief of Detectives William McSweeney said the decision to amend the death certificate was ultimately made by the coroner’s office, which has been instructed by detectives not to discuss the case. “I would just say undetermined is descriptive, »

Strange. Water usually feels warmer at night -- with respect to the surrounding air temperature -- than it does during daylight hours.
It takes longer for water to cool down. You may have been surprised at the relative warmth of swimming pools if you've swum in them after dark.
Good point. I was never in the water at Catalina Island at night.
The bruises could have been caused by her failed efforts to get back into the dinghy/boat.
Was their yacht moored out beyond the crowded port? There were always a lot of boats anchored there.

The person in the next boat over, again I think it was very close, heard it all go down but was never interviewed by investigators. The investigation was closed after just a couple of days.

There was a drowning of a nurse the other day, they say she
went out for a night swim~ she was found the next morning, dead. (and she is not a strong swimmer)
I would be checking insurance and hard drives of the husband

Nurse Jennifer Gallagher, who helped treat victims of the Aurora theater shooting in Colorado, has drowned while on a family vacation in Iowa.
Gallagher, 46, of Denver, went swimming in West Lake Okoboji the night of Aug. 6 and her body was found the next day, according to the Sheriff's Office in Dickinson County, Iowa.
Now I ask you, does she look like someone who would go
for a midnight swim ( I don't think so). Stranger things have happened
but this on does pass the smell test.

This one does not pass the smell test. (correction)
Swimming at night alone? You would think a nurse, of all people, would know the dangers of that and would never do it.

of these women went out alone risking life and limb for whatever reason.
(eviltimes)...She was scared shitless of the water - even a backyard pool. Probably had to "calm herself down" with something even to think about getting on Bob's precious yacht. No way would she try the dinghy, or anything else. She would have drunk herself to sleep, hiding inside the cabin with the curtains closed.
Sounds about right to me.
Healthy people just don't go out and drown themselves
But people who are fucked up on liquor or drugs do it. I saw a man so fehrkakt on beer he drowned in the surf in daytime.
As an investigator I worked on a case where a guy got so drunk he drowned in the swimming pool in the center court of his own apartment building.

You are 100% correct. Drugs and alcohol changes everything,
people walk in front of trains, dive off of buildings, drown themselves, under the influence.
