Netflix Movie Fans

So I went on the Netflix website a couple of days ago and I notice that the suggestions tab was gone. In its place was a Taste Profile tab which is utterly useless in comparison. All it does is bring up the rate more movies page. Luckily they didn't completely get rid of the suggestions tab. If I click on Your queue then the taste profile tab will disappear and  the suggestions tab will reappear. Only difference is that instead of giving you the number of total recommendations it just gives you a star next it. Seriously I'm at the point now where I've rated all of the movies I've seen. The only way I can rate more is by watching more. Also the recommendation engine was one of the reason I really liked Netflix. Has this happened to anyone else?

It's visible on my Netflix home page. Not sure, but could it be that the suggestions tab comes and goes based on your number of available suggestions?

I fluctuated between 1,500 - 2,000 suggestions. I have rated over 1,000 movies and tv shows. I really don't think that should affect weather I have a suggestions tab. I also only have 110 movies in my DVD queue and 46 movies in my instant queue. It could affect if I have a star instead of a number but I don't think it should effect if I have the tab or not.

I had that too, but it has since reverted to "* Suggestions for you". I have no idea what they're doing, but it seemed clumsy.

I honestly never really got much out of the suggestions.  I've rated 3,294 movies on netflix and they have zero suggestions for me.  All they say is to rate more movies.

Ask older family members about how they coped before movie watching decisions became entirely decided by The Computers.

Well I can come up with movies to watch without the help of Netflix. I was just saying that in regards to the Taste Profile. Its a useless feature in comparison to the Suggestions.

Sorry, Ratings and Recommendations Unavailable

We apologize for any inconvenience. If you've previously rated movies and TV shows or set taste preferences, don't worry —we've saved those for you.

We'll keep checking to see if recommendations and ratings are available; in the meantime, you can still browse for movies and TV shows to watch.

The point wasn't that the suggestions were gone, the point was that the interface had completely changed. Before I can access the suggestions I have to click on your queue.

What you say is absolutely true. The tabs have changed and the new tab, "Taste Profile" is useless to me. It looks slick and if you "X" a title, it is replaced in about one second with another title, so it's flashy (kinda), but utterly useless really. And the "My Reviews" tab no longer appears on the main tool bar. So they're keeping busy in NF-la-la-land.

I'm 99% of the time using the android app, and it is working very well. The recommendations via the app are pretty much on the mark.

I'm not talking about the recommendations themselves. I'm talking about how you access the recommendations. Sure I can look on a movie's page and see what it's suggested rating is for me, but they've made it so I now have to take extra steps to access the "suggestions for you" page.

It's the format and process that keep changing.
