I would like to edit or remove my history. Called Netflix but said that they don't do this. I would like to be able to watch what ever I want without others coming on my computer and seeing what I have been doing.
I don't care if they keep an internal record, just as long as I don't have a record when I open my account.
Are recommendations important to you? Just wondering. They keep a record of what you watched for their recommendation engine. If you delete that information then wouldn't you get the same thing recommended to you over and over again? Do you think that would be frustrating? Do you have an idea for that too?

So you just mark it "not interested."
Are you actually saying that members should never be allowed to have more control? There are many possible solutions in between "Brilliant!" and "Shut the fuck up!". Just sayin'.
Not sayin' anything. Just curious that's all. I have no solution to offer, just wanted to know what his/her thoughts were beyond just his/her request.
From my experience in life, everything has a cost and a reward. Is the reward enough to balance out or be greater than the cost? That's what I'm thinking about.
It's probably too late to engage that guy in an honest discussion, this thread has too much bile (and given your prior interaction with the guy). You can always engage with me, however. I'm snark-proof.
But to be honest, your post (like the one in the previous thread) was also needlessly confrontational and not collaborative. You don't have to solve every detail before making a suggestion, IMO, and I don't think you really gave this suggestion any real thought before you replied.
I have no idea how you think my response to Knalds' ridiculous post is relevant.
But if both you and Micro tell me that you think Knalds' responses in this thread were totally warranted and appropriate then I'll leave the topic alone. On the other hand, if you think he was over the line then grow a pair and tell him so.
But I'm not willing to get into a debate with you about such things. I know that you will think out all the points and come to some sort of conclusion, whether we agree on it or not. No I'm more interested in the guy who seemed only interested in getting what he wanted out of Netflix. It's cool to want things from the services you spend your money on. I just think there has to be a give and take. What is he willing to give to get what he wants. As I've learned many times in life, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
And I don't think I was snarky with the most recent poster. I goofed off a bit, but I wasn't smeaing any bile on my face. I'm trying to be a kinder, fresher community member. Kind like the Summer's Eve of Netflix.
I'm exceptional in many ways, you can't hold me up as the standard.

That's kind of how this kind of discussion is supposed to go. But my conclusions are tentative conclusions. If you have a better argument or better data to support a different conclusion then you are free to continue the debate. Or free to decide you don't care so much and walk away.

If you're grading on a curve and comparing yourself to Knalds, Pihk, Alan, Dr. Phibes, et al. then I agree - your post was not combative. Is that the standard we've come to?
From where I sit you it looks like you fired off those questions as a reflex and you honestly did not care to think about the issue at all or engage in any productive discussion on it. It's just piling on, IMO.
Once again, tell me that Knalds' responses to Jamie's posts were entirely appropriate and acceptable to you and I will walk away from the thread. Spin has already agreed to that contract, you don't want to go against the crowd do you?
They don't have to actually delete the info in their systems (I don't think they would ever do this), but they can just flag your account to show or not show the history. Very simple to implement, shouldn't affect recommendations, and could be turned on and off in the master account.
That makes sense and is something that I would agree with.
See ColdOne, he did come back and provide an answer that I think sounds reasonable.
And to answer your question honestly. No I don't think Knalds was being to snarky. I'm gonna go with the crowd. I've always heard lemming pie is delicious.
