Netflix Movie Fans

Last March, over at Western Roundup, we ran a March Madness-style tourney with western films. This year I thought on the Main Forum it might be fun to have a similar style tournament based on tv shows. So I'm compiling Top 100 Lists to start and then trying to narrow to four brackets of 16 TV shows each--64 total. So I'll post some of the lists that I've found and your opinion on what shows should be in the tourney is greatly appreciated.

We'd need to determine the seeding for each bracket also (#1 seed plays #16 in the 1st Round, so there are clear benefits from being a highly seeded team/tv show).

Opinions on what the brackets (thematic) should be is also appreciated.

In the thread itself will be further explanation of the dynamics of the game.

Thanks!

So now we put in Firefly?!!!? ;-)
As much as I love the Daily Show and the Cobert Report I think I would exclude them for the same reasons we'd exclude Letterman.
Thanks, I'll delete those! I used the EW list to start....it needs other tweaking....additions?

35 of them.....Three need to go to get us down to 32 teams/tv shows.....your opinions (and your reasoning)?
Murphy Brown, Frasier, Designing Women. Never kept me interested beyond a few shows.
Jackass - funny at times but in the end a bunch of idiots doing idiotic things (actually really close to a reality show IMO)
Ben Stiller Show - was ok but not a fav for me
Saved by the Bell - Seriously do i need to explain why ???
Is the concensus to drop Jackass (as a reality show)?

2 The Sopranos, HBO (1999-2007)

Here's an example of how it would go when the tournament actually starts....

The March Madness as I structured it last year at Western Roundup (WR) was based on the NCAA basketball tourney.

We had four brackets: NEW WEST, OLD WEST, SPAGHETTI WEST AND LOCO WEST.

16 "teams"/movies in each bracket. There's a number one seed (highest rated movie in the bracket) that competes against the 16th seed (lowest ranked movie in the bracket).

Here's a sample bracket:
LOCO WEST (Non-traditional, comedic or foreign westerns)
#1 The Wild Bunch
#2 Jeremiah Johnson
#3 Little Big Man
#4 Bad Day at Black Rock
#5 The Professionals
#6 Blazing Saddles
#7 The Beguiled
#8 Johnny Guitar
#9 Cat Ballou
#10 Ballad of Cable Hogue
#11 McCabe and Mrs. Miller
#12 Bandidas
#13 Posse
#14 No Country for Old Men
#15 Tears of the Black Tiger
#16 My Little Chickadee

Games were called duels. If you posted a video clip, your movie got 3 points; movie stills were worth 2 points; and a quote or factoid was a point!

So the first round was 1 vs. 16, 2 v. 15,3 v.14, etc. Needless to say The Wild Bunch blew My Little Chickadee away. But there were always some upsets. In our case with television, a high seeded show like Simpsons would play Saved by the Bell (1st round action), for instance and people score points for their favorite of the two shows with the point system described above.

It was fun....and time-consuming, but...I'm willing to do the work, if people are interested. March is still a ways away!
Are the rules clear?
