A Netflix Community

How many others are getting caught in Netflix's cost cutting measures and seeing new releases with "Very Long Wait" and "Long Wait" as their status? Outside of 'Speed Racer' and 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' I haven't received any popular (subject to interpretation). Currently I have:

'Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian'
'Wanted'
'WALL-E'
'Kung Fu Panda'
'The Happening'
'Tropic Thunder'
'Hancock'

I have a friend I converted to a Netflix fan who has pushed his discs down to just one "for old movies" since he can't get new releases in a timely manner.

I called customer service about the issue and they said they suspect this is because they have closed their used disc store.

Netflix loses much of its appeal if you can't get the movies you want is a timely fashion. Should they not have enough copies to satisfy their customers within a month? ('Kung Fu Panda' & 'Tropic Thunder') Isn't two months too long? ('The Happening').

I've giving this until after the holidays before I found my friend - if I don't just suspend my account all together.

Careful with your negative comments of Netflix...not only will you receive responses telling you to go elsewhere, but it will also affect your request for DVDs. It was less than 2 days when I complained of similar issues like yours with Netflix on this forum when I suddenly noticed they placed my "shipping today" DVD into "processing" thus "holding " my requests. I have learned that if you complain, you will be punished.

Wow. Out of curiousity, did you just watch Conspiracy Theory?

I was being facetious. Don't be so bitter, its the holidays!

Facetious... facetious. Damn. Mooooooooom where's my dictionary?

Bitter? Do you want to borrow my dictionary to see that word doesn't apply here? As for it being the holidays, I'm Cratchit and you're the Scrooge in this scenario. Notice the smiley I had up there after my response? I was being facetious as well. Bah humbug indeed. :-)

well as for right now every new release that's on my queue witch include an american carol eagle eyes, surfer dude beethoven's big break all have some form of a wait and yes the dark knight wall-e and horton hears a who still have a wait in some form and all these have had a wait since the day they were released to dvd. I'm not complaining just pointing this out.

OK. Glad I'm not the only one here noticing this. Over the past 3 or 4 months, my Queue has really started piling on the waits.

I average 25 DVDs in my queue. Maybe 4 or 5 will be new releases less than 30 days old. As of tonight, 18 of the 26 titles in my queue have a wait. Of the 26, maybe 5 are less than 30 days old.

I noticed a section on this site about competing services. I'm checking them out right now.

two months can be an expected wait for those big titles ...b/c as was discussed -no late fees.
there were some scenarios w/ 100 customers & 30 were hanger on-ers and 70 sent right back. a much larger portion of customers keeps their discs a long long time.
so, good for them since they like that about the service, less good for those on this post who like a really fast turnaround on those NR, etc. And as said many times by people here , Netflix is not newreleases.com and has never touted to be - they advertise about having a very wide & deep selection of all sorts of movies. If 50% or more of your interest is "whatevers new" - you will probably be more disappointed in the wait times - NF doesn't focus on this like brick and mortar since they reach the entire country, and not a specific town/geographical region that caters just to "give me what's new i don't care as long as it's new" or a specific need like kid's films, Disney, etc.
i,myself have had the same movies since....september.

and to the person who commented:

this is a total fallacy - NF doesn't have the time, interest or staffing to look at this board - so are you serious????? this isn't even a NF sponsored board. People have posted how the hubs work & shipping works - I suggest you review those. a disc comes in, it gets checked in that day; b/c they need it to go to someone else right away. verbiage has changed to "processing" for everyone - until it actually ships -so no conspiracy theory. and no disc status anywhere for anyone is "controlled" by a person - it's automated as is a project for 9 million customers and they send over a million discs a day -
