I have the same set up as you (samsung smart tv through the vizio sound bar) and yes, I am having a problem. I am no longer getting any Netflicks audio out of my soundbar. All the other hub apps (Pandora, etc.) still come through the soundbar, so I know the set up is working fine, just not for Netflicks. I can get the Netflicks audio to play through the TVs built-in speakers, so I know that it is still coming through, just not to the soundbar. Any ideas on your end? I have tried several sound settings, but no dice. I would really appreciate any ideas on this one, as Netflicks is one of my primary entertainment sources, and listening throught my TVs built in speakers is pretty terrible. I am spoiled by that sound bar!

I ended up talking with a Netflix customer support person and they told me that it wouldn't ever work because of the 5.1 audio source and the soundbar not supporting that. As I also rely heavily on Netflix for my entertainment and can't live with the "tinny" sound of the TV speakers I ended up getting a roku XD box and connecting that to the soundbar. The sound is amazing but it did end up costing me another $70.

Thanks for sharing the info. Specifically, did you get a Roku 2 XD? And are you using an optical out from the Roku box to the soundbar? Any specific reason that you did not opt for a Roku XDS?
Thanks!

Biff
Permalink Reply by Eric on June 21, 2012 at 4:42pm I'm having the same issue (sound broken up) with my vizio soundbar. Netflix works fine using the speakers on the TV, but does not work on my soundbar. Soundbar had been working perfectly with netflix prior to this week.
So you're saying Netflix did an update that makes my sound bar incompatible??
Permalink Reply by Biff on June 22, 2012 at 5:31am Yep - something to do with the audio signal. As I said, the netflix from the smart Tv will only play through TV speakers but netflix via Roku is fine through the soundbar. I was also advised that if I used a samung soundbar it wouldn't be an issue but that was a more expensive solution than the roku.
