Few people remember that Babe Ruth made an impressive cameo in Harold Lloyd's Speedy (1928). It's not a "baseball" film but it has one of the most memorable players of all time getting tossed around by Lloyd's maniacal cabby on the way to Yankee Stadium. It's a great sequence - better than some entire films centered around the sport. There are the very good ones that I bow to like The Natural and Field of Dreams. And then, of course, there's Ken Burns' 11 part series, Baseball. But it's the smaller films that I like best. Anyone have any special favorites?

Freedom of expression and abuse are two entirely different things
No, they're not.
Why would anyone want to control expression unless abuse -- (or prospective self-abuse) -- were involved?
I'm not removing the "reply" section. It automatically cuts off at a certain point.
Be-lieve me. That eccentricity of design pisses me off more than it does you.

That's what I said. Alright. No deleting anything from here on out. My God. The Mets just swept Atlanta!! The day's not a total jerk-off.

It's one baseball flick (with the amazing Tommy lee Jones) that I haven't seen 'til today. Miserable reviews. Seems to be a favorite of Ty Cobb/Tommy Lee fans...

I really love A League of their Own....it is a family friendly movie too....as someone with younger children, it is important to have good movies that are also family friendly....A League of Their Own is one as is Field of Dreams.
