Permalink Reply by macroman on November 18, 2012 at 6:47pm What's Cooking? (2000)=There are many Christmas movies available but not that many good Thanksgiving films. What's Cooking is probably one of the better ones out there.
It follows four different families reuniting for Thanksgiving. Rather than than more utopian holiday movies of 50-60 years ago, this film reflects modern realities. There is in-family bickering amongst family members who don't always get along. One family's daughter brings her lesbian lover with her and comes out as being gay to her parents; there are interracial romances, including a Mexican girl who brings her Vietnamese boyfriend to her family's home etc.
Alfre Woodard is probably the best known star in this film. 4 stars. A rewatch.
Permalink Reply by macroman on January 4, 2013 at 7:02pm Promised Land ( 2012)=this film on fracking or natural gas drilling can be Saved. But NF keeps track of the number of people who have a certain title saved, so the more people add it, the more likely they are to carry it when it's on DVD.
Permalink Reply by David on January 6, 2013 at 5:57pm A lot of the newer movies I haven't had the time to see. Here's some I've added or want to see, some I might can still see at the theater:

Life of Pi
Looper
