I just finished Wallace Beery in Viva Villa! (Unavailable on DVD) from TCM. Fabulous picture about Pancho Villa from 1934. Entertaining as hell, and Beery is excellent. One of history's most underrated actors.
Up next is Liv Ullman in Gaby (1987), which is likewise unavailable on DVD.

And it's got some terrific "dark" elements -- like the beating scene with Fay Wray and Joseph Schildkraut's grisly fate. I saw it as a kid and have never shaken off my feeling about it. ("No, Pancho. This is not the way !!!")
The Streets of San Francisco Season 1. An entertaining blast from the past, especially since it's local to us. It's funny how the good are good and the bad are mostly bad, but sometimes just good guys led astray. Formulaic, but perhaps so old that the formula was new?
Chungking Express. A seminal work of the nineties??? Huh, the nineties must've been a lot less interesting than I remember... It's visuals are a lot more exciting than the stories it's telling (like a fast-paced music video depicting the world's slowest chess game). Tony Leung is interesting as always, but that's about it for me. Not bad, not good, just not very much of anything.
I watched Wanted and while I gave it 4 stars, it really was only 3.5 stars. I loved McAvoy as an action hero--he brought something really interesting to the character. Too bad I can't say the same for Jolie--she phoned her role in, what a waste. Maybe she needed the paycheck? Anyway, the special effects were fantastic which made it worth the watch.
Yeah--it's tough splitting the Quarter Pounder with Brad and all the kiddies.... Or maybe she's keeping the weight down for the role of her life---OCTOMOM!! ;)
Its a different twist but I guess the cast director saw her fit for the character. Although I see her more like Lara Croft in that film. Strange. Maybe it would be nice for Charlize Theron for the role but she seems too young for it.
