5/5 Stars
Comedies aren't known for their cinematography but director of photography David Watkin's work on this film is worth the price of admission on its own. You also get an all star cast: Orson, Perkins, Newhart, ...Alan Arkin is especially memorable. The commentary by director Mike Nichols and Steven Soderbergh is both entertaining and enlightening.
Three great (although different) war movies in 1970: Kelly's Heroes, M*A*S*H* and the truly amazing Catch-22. If you've ever read Joe Heller's book it's an amazing feat to turn it into a comprehensible film.
"You killed him!
But he died a rich man.
But he's dead, what good is money?
Then his parents will get it.
But his parents are rich!
Then they'll understand."

Buck Henry wrote the lines "They're rich. - Then they'll understand" and according to Nichols and Soderbergh, Heller said he wished he had thought of it himself.

Yep. This one and Fight Club. Rare instances where the screenplay/film far surpassed the original material.

Can't blame Sev - he's only read it in the original Klingon.

True . . . if all you can see are Scheisskopf jokes.
