Especially "Untitled".

Yes.

Worthless short of a late night morgue attendant's psycho-sexual shenanigans. Use your imagination and skip this no dialog turd from Spain. 0/10

Finished Game of Thrones--pretty excellent series.

The Exorcist 3 (1990)

4/5 Stars

I think Silence of the Lambs owes a lot to this film although Lambs is the better film. Blatty is at his best when writing dialogue for lunatics (see Ninth Configuration) and the scenes in the mental ward in this film are hilarious ("Can you fix my radio?"). George C. Scott turns in one of his better performances. Could have done without the unnecessary shock tactics (which were always easy to see coming) and the blatant Christian message which Blatty, a devout Catholic, feels compelled to base his work on.

It has problems, but I did like George C. in one his last films.

It has one shot in it that fries my hair.

If I remember aright, Scott is walking toward some guy's office on the second floor of a classy Catholic cathedral. Set against the plush paneled walls is an occasional, life-sized statue of a saint or other religious figure.

The scene only lasts a few seconds, but the face on one of those statues is noticeably far from benevolent. It makes me uncomfortable just trying to bring it to mind.

Oblomov (1980)

3/5 Stars

Takes patience but has its rewards. Touches on some philosophical issues, satirizes 19th century Russian society but in the end the emphasis is on missing an opportunity for love and settling for loveless relationships. Nice cinematography shot in beautiful Russian countryside.

Vatel (2000)

3/5 Stars

Worth seeing for all the period detail and the spectacular displays that Vatel puts on for Louis XIV but there's not much else going on in the film other than the simple aristocracy=bad, peasants=good message. Based on actual events but I suspect some rewriting of history in order to make a more entertaining story.

Ridley Scott delivers an attempt at an epic film - trying to restart the series with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender.  And that might just work.  I'm going to have to watch this again, but what I saw today was very professionally made and deep in spots.  The Icelandic scenery is fantastic and the spaceships beautiful.  Story is a little lean, you really have to have seen all four previous films and know your Weyland "Building Better Worlds" history to get all the multitudes of insider goodies.  Since I am a huge fan (especially of 1 and 2), I had no problem.  But I think that level of background will probably hurt it at the box office.  Everyone wants their plots spoon fed to them these days.  Sorry, for this one you have to have some knowledge of the franchise and turn your brain on.  8/10 until the BD comes out and I get to sink my teeth into it again.  Small joke at the end of the credits.

Of course, I wore my "Nostromo" shirt:

Killer Elite   IMDb   2011   R   117 min   BD

A 44 minute story in a two hour box. Very formulaic - nothing new here. And what's with DeNiro these days? Just wave a check and he'll do anything? This is a bad Stathan flick that even Clive Owen cannot save. Boo. Like a bad episode of MI-6 (Spooks). 0/10
