A Netflix Community

I just joined Netflix, primarily to watch movies on my laptop. It consistently freezes, giving me a message that speed has slowed down. Sometimes it will reset, but usually have to turn computer off and reboot to get connection.

I called Netflix customer service, and they indicated I have adequate memory, etc. on computer. It does not seem related to time of day, which appears to be problematic with some internet service providers.

I am using WIFI, using a router; desktop is connected directly into internet cable (Comcast). Desktop does not do this.

Seems to me it is a router problem, but no problems with any other use of laptop, including watching tv shows online at the tv station websites. Any suggestions?

I would think this is problem, except movies play on desktop wired directly into internet cable, but not on laptop with WIFI and router. txs

Yeah, I'd suspect some sort of problem with your router, since the landline seems to work. Do you have encryption (WEP/WPA etc.) on your Wifi connection? I suspect that slows the connection speed down (but it may turn out to be insignificant).

Have you tried speedtest.net and then comparing the speeds between laptop and desktop? That might be an indicator. If all else fails, buy a looooong ethernet cable. :-)
