I came into this topic to say Keanu Reeves but looks like I got beat to the punch haha. He is absolutely horrible and I truly can't watch anything he is in.
I will however stick up for Nic Cage. C'mon he isn't bad! Con Air was an awesome movie....and have you seen 8mm??????
ACTOR:
-- How about John Travolta?
-- Or, Jamie Fox? (Seriously, I think Don Cheadle should've won the Oscar. I think Fox only got it because Ray Charles died that year. I think it was more of a vote for Ray Charles, then for Jamie Fox.)
-- Or, Steven Seagal. I enjoy his movies, but he's not a good actor.
ACTRESS:
There are too many to pick just one, but a couple on my list are:
-- Katie Holmes
-- Julia Roberts
Or, Jamie Fox? (Seriously, I think Don Cheadle should've won the Oscar. I think Fox only got it because Ray Charles died that year. I think it was more of a vote for Ray Charles, then for Jamie Fox.)
I think he did a great job with Ray, but I also think Cheadle should have won. Now, as for Fox's other movies... er, nothing really stands out as good acting that I can recall.

I certainly don't think he was a bad actor, but I think John Wayne was way overrated as an actor, especially in his later years. He always seemed like he was just doing a caricature of John Wayne. It has been pointed out that that's just the way he was, but it became very distracting for me.
Although I liked (not loved) the movie, in Sands of Iwo Jima, the camera would often pause on his mug (in the heat of battle, mind you), then he'd kind of nod his head before delivering his line in that familiar drawl. It obviously became a trademark and he worked really hard to polish it (especially in his later films (namely Green Berets), but it was always just that, a trademark and never seemed in the natural flow of the movie.
Certainly agree about Nicholas Cage, who is nearly unwatchable in the last few movies I've seen him in. How Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher -has anyone mentioned her?- got cast in the same movie is a mystery, but I must admit the first two Star Wars were enjoyable overall. Nobody's mentioned Robert Redford. Went a long time playing the same part in multiple movies: The Natural, Out of Africa and others I'm forgetting. Give me John Wayne any day (although he's pretty bad too).
Dammit, I was just waiting to see who was gonna mention Ben. Well, he didn't make an appearance until page 4 so that's something I guess. :) Call me the Ben apologist, but I liked him in Chasing Amy and Hollywoodland and he always kicks butt when he hosts SNL.
