1. Re: 'groups catered to actors and directors'. Perhaps you could simplify this by changing it a 'groups catered to INDIVIDUALS. That way it would also include writers (the fans of Stephen King), producers, and more.
2. I also think it would be more exact to have a section for 'specific movies' (Godfather, Bladerunner) vs. 'genres' (Classic Cinema = Classics, Wormhole Xtreme = Sci-fi).
I believe it would make the most sense to create your own broad generic genres and/or subgenres such as they exist on the Netflix site, otherwise you will be subject to the whim of how various users choose to define them.
For example, under an index/ discussion labeled 'groups catered to genres', list Action, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Horror (alphabetically); then under each genre section, list the links. For example, under a heading such as Horror, you would list: Cheesy B Horror, Creepy Movies, East Asian Horror, Gore Hounds(alphabetically).
I think listing first by genre, then secondly alphabetically would help reduce redundancy in group creation.
As to #2, I'll need to figure out how to do it, but it is a great idea. When you see it, please critique me as it evolves. Thank you and please continue to suggest more. (Also, invite your friends to join the group, if you haven't done so yet.)
You might want to consider attaching a pix to this group. I'm so sick of the "Cone Heads" attached to everyone, that I really don't think it should represent an entire group! It looks like we didn't take the time to consider who we are or want to be.
I like it WowWee! - that is the first thing that came to my mind to!
I added some more vintage pics under the 'pick an avatar' thread... but this one is just as good if not better than the ones I found.
No offence Cat G, but I find most of those pics to be super girlie. I think it would be better to pick something a little more androgynous (you know ,something in the middle that guys and gals could relate to).
I think the pics that look best in the small format that Ning presents them in are: square shaped (not rectangle), have bold colors and lines, and without a lot of intricate detail that becomes muddy as a small picture.
Anyhow, that's my vote.
I've seen a lot of one off posts asking things like "What's the name of that movie were the goes up in that plane and then jumps out...you know the one I'm talking about." Would it make sense to have a group for all these types of questions?
1 Allow pc users to stream in HD. The majority of pc users have dual or quad processors and can easily stream HD using their broadband connection its crazy to ask them to go out and buy a x-box or roku or blu-ray player.
2 Allow ps3 users to access Netflix. This would be a huge coup for Netflix and Sony if the could pull it off. Sony could still sell streaming of the latest movies
3 STOP Throttling! I sent my movies back on Wednesday at the post office before lunch and Netflix won’t send me out any until MONDAY and I won’t receive them until Tuesday or Wednesday. That’s a week later!!!! I live just up the street from the Netflix shipping location!!! WTF!!!!
