A Netflix Community

Ok, does anyone know what's up with Netflix not having discs in what feels like a ton of series (11 on my queue alone)? They're clearly available and while Netflix definitely has problems with other films that are widely available (and apparently were available at Netflix in the past) they seem to really have problems with anime.

I mean, not just series either, but Vampire Hunter D and Perfect Blue are both MIA as well (though, at least Perfect Blue is available for instant watching if you can tolerate the dub).

It seems that as far as I can tell that netflix brought X amount of disc or series and over time especially with older Anime series that are not as popular were not replaced I mostly run into this problem with Older not popular music titles. Sorry best I can tell you for now try asking the actual NF employees that are on this site . See what they tell you hoped this helped you a little bit

I've run into to this very same problem and have contacted Netflix in the past about it. The answer that I received was very cryptic and uninformative. My understanding is that due to the cost of Anime series, replacing them is something Netflix doesn't see as that important. However I have noticed many other live action titles that have also just been forgotten and not replaced. The one that got me really heated was "Robotech". volumes 3,4,8,11 are missing. It caused me to watch the original "Macross" version haha, which turned out to be interesting but I liked the Robotech music better. However, for the "Southern Cross" and "New Generation" your out of luck for a fix their. Harmony gold has released a lot more product too. I would think netflix could purchase a the new Robotech platinum edition which includes extra episodes. It is around a hundred dollars though, and Harmony gold might not sell it to them, because it is there cash cow. Well.

Most of what I'm missing is, while a bit older in some cases, pretty popular e.g. Great Teacher Onizuka (missing disc 1) or Noir (missing disc 4). Most of it's from the early '00s.

Also, while a bit off-topic. What's the deal with only having Armitage III: Poly-matrix?!? That's like only carrying Evangelion Death and Rebirth (...except I've seen Evangelion, but not Armitage III)!

Ok anther series that I've been wanting to watch is "Blue Submarine 6", however the first two series are missing. Haha. How do you watch a series that is missing the beginning. Hmmm. I wish a new an employee that could answer why some of these series have been left incomplete. I don't know how Netflix deals with its replacement issues. I seems to be a problem when it comes to animation for sure. Haha, I've been needing to vent this stuff for a while hahahaha. Thanx for adding this forum.

Well, I sent in a request for all of the titles missing discs. Probably nothing will come of it, but we can hope.

When I was using GreenCine they had the opposite problem: new anime wasn't getting purchased (including stuff like Mushi-Shi and Chevalier d'Eon that's very popular) and they often were losing out to NF, despite partially building their business based on a greater availability of independent, foreign, cult and anime. At the same time they have official forums with very active employees so at least you have an easier and more obvious way to complain about these sorts of things (and generally get them fixed).

Of course, they screwed us local, San Francisco customers by moving shipping to Southern California. Still, if you don't mind the wait and having only one shipping center for the entire country they're usually not bad for getting various things that Netflix seems to have problems with. Still, neither service really delivers on all fronts. Especially when it comes to anime.

Hmmm, Well numbers talk, we could threaten them. If we could get fifty to hundred people to send the same complaint e-mail to Netflix asking for answers. Maybe we'd get a better response. I'm gonna go snooping in the employees area and see if they're aren't any answers. Now If I could only remember the channels name?

e-mails straight to NF are probably our best bet for a response. As you said, however, numbers talk. It would most likely have to be a significant number of e-mails for them to invest the cash needed to fix the issue. NF tends to cater to the masses, and let's face it...we anime freaks are in the minority. Booooo

I am with you on that every series I add that has missing disc I sent in a request for that disc on both of my 8 at a time accounts (nothing worse than getting half a series and not bing able to finish till the next disc comes in) but I am sure its a numbers game if enough people sent in requests I am sure they will add it or try and aquire it.

I have a few in my queue just like that. Out of 6 discs, they'll list 1 as saved. Who wants to watch a series with a missing disc? I've had many discs in my saved section that just go unavailable.

I started Paranoia Agent and disc 2 had to be shipped from Louisiana (I'm in CA). That doesn't bode well for the rest of the discs in the series.

series with missing discs are a huge pet peeve of mine. I usually just give up on the series because that missing ep inevitably contains some bit of info crucial to the plot development. yeah, you can go online and find an ep synopsis somewhere, but you're still left w/o the best part. It's like having a PB&J sammy w/o the jelly. dry and boring.

the saved section of my queue is seriously like a roach motel...movies check in, but they don't check out. LOL

BTW, it's good to hear from the Deadicus Dorkae Maximus! LOL wish you the best of luck with Paranoia Agent. =D

I totally agree with everything you just said. If there's a missing disc in a series, I'll usually queue up only the missing one. So far, I have yet to ever have one become available once it's in saved purgatory. Most likely, they just die there. Annoying.

At least they sent me disc 2 even if it did have to come 3/4 of the way across the country. I'm just worried the rest of them will be that way too and it will take me 6 months to watch the thing. :(

I never thought I'd feel lucky to live in Small Town, IL. If a disc is available it does seem to reach me faster than in other parts of the country. You guys in CA seem to have it rough. I've seen a fair amount of posts from other members in your area who've also experienced long waits due to discs having to be shipped long distance. Maybe the CA distribution center just can't handle the demand. Seems like I read about it being a problem in NY as well. Funny, you'd think the real problem would be in my general area.
