alright, my fellow anime freaks, here's a link to Macross Frontier 11.

Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but wanted to share the goodies. ^_^
Just watched MF11 and almost fell out of my friggin seat. WFT? there wasn't a single fight scene! guess the warmonger in me will just have to wait till next week to get it's jollies. hehe. hmmm...what else? no pinky, the manager biotch still seems shady as all hell and there's this famed 33rd marine fleet that looks like it'll stir the turds.

This week we also find out it's Alto's bday. He gets multiple offers for the big day:
Offer 1: His "brother" shows up, then we find out Yasaburo's not his real brother, but is the actor chosen as the next successor of the house of Ranzou after Alto took off. He tells Alto his father has collapsed and that if he comes to see big papa on his bday he'll be recognized as Ranzou's son again.
Offer 2: Ranka asks him to meet her on the hill to give him the present she has for him. she's all weirded out about the infamous smoochies/Sheryl and takes forever to call him. also she's like uber famous/busy as hell after the movie.
Offer 3: Sheryl asks him to go to Gallia 4, she tells him there's an atmosphere and he can fly in a real, limitless sky.
to find out which offer he accepts, check out the ep ^_^
Ok, so I've returned and have just finished watching episodes 10 and 11 of Macross frontier. It is easy to see that if you haven't seen the original Macross series and the the Five part Macross Zero series, episodes 10 and 11 might seem a bit inactive. However, if you have seen these other two series it is quit apparent just how amazing episodes 10 and 11 were, blending both of these two past series into this new one was genius again. I got teary eyed twice. I can't believe how complex this new series is getting and it seems that it has so much more to offer. For those of you waiting for some action, never fear, Macross will deliver while it makes you fall in love and breaks your heart at the same time. I can't wait for episode 12, it looks like it' s going to flash back the Zentradi aspect of the original Macross series. However, the intrigue and mystery that the top brass and special security forces is really starting to mount. What is going with Ranka's relationship with the Vajra and what she called her brother in ep. 10, the mysterious piolot of the Vajra Valkery. Homie was an android too? Are they going to add some Haydonite Shadow technology(Shadow Chronicles) now too. This series is seriously becoming amazingly complex. If your lost right now, I urgently suggest that you watch The original Macross series or Robotech season 1, same thing accept it has better dubbing and music, then you will need to watch Macross plus, then Macross Zero, and finally Robotech the Shadow Chronicles movies. If you really are serious you can watch all of the Robotech series if you can get your hands on it. Macross movies are seriously optional. Or you can just continue watching Macross Frontier and still enjoy how magnificence of the character and plot development that they've achieved. Ranka is really developing into a duel persona of Lin Minmay(Macross/Robotech series) and Mao(Macross Zero). There are also parallels with Macross Plus and now possibly Robotech the Shadow chronicles. Wow, this series has the best writing and knowledge of the Macross world that I have seen yet.
you're right, the series is complex. I just love the action so much that I jones for it now. just kept thinking "just one teensy fight, puhleeeese!" LOL can't wait to see how everything plays out...so many seeds have been sown.
I'm getting the feeling that those top brass and security people are in with the Robot race known as the haydonites or children of the shadow. We also learn the name of who the infamous vajra pilot who seems to be a cyborg and Ranka's brother,Brera Stern.

It's certainly been a while since I've posted here, but while I was on I decided to post this here.

For all the fire and brimstone discussion about the anime industry, many of our favorite artists are still around creating decent anime.

A good example would be Shinichiro Watanabe and Yoko Kanno teaming up again this Spring to produce Kids on the Slope, which so far has been pretty good.

Ayumu Watanabe's Space Brothers is another show I'm enjoying. It's a story about two brothers and their experiences in becoming astronauts. It's has a much more unique feel since it's told in a Japanese perspective. It's a little strange to hear people in Texas speaking Japanese, but hey nothing is perfect, especially when it comes to localizations.

Leiji Matsumoto's directed a short ova this Spring called Ozma, but unfortunately while the show had some potential, I felt it was too short and a bit rushed with little character development. Not a great performance from a senior animator like Mr. Matsumoto, but hey he's a legend so I'm just happy to see any of his work.

Kenji Nakamura's Tsuritama is another series I'm following this spring. It's a slice of life about friendship and fishing if you can believe it. Oh course there's a weird anime twist to the story that includes aliens with squirt guns that can erase your memory and an alien duck with followers that watch other alien activity on earth? LoL Even with the corny additions the series thus far has been very entertaining.

The last series I'll strongly suggest as pretty good this Spring is Jormungand. It's basically a twisted anime version of the Lord of War about a kid who's fate becomes linked with Gun smugglers and assassins.

Of course there are other decent shows that I'm following, for nostalgic reasons, like Fate/Zero and Eureka Seven AO. But for many I'm sure the new Saint Seiya Omega is at the top of the nostalgia list.

Guilty pleasures this season include Nazo no Kanojo X, a story about a boy who can't get enough of a mysterious girls drool, Hyouka being Kyoto Animations new series that almost feels like a through back to The Melancholy of Harui Suzumiya without the supernatural element thus far and a little etchi called Sankarea which is about a boy obsessed with Zombies.
