A Netflix Community

I got my start on foreign film watching Wings of Desire. Up to my running into Richie Millenium, I have not met, in person or cyberspace, anyone who actually like Wim Wenders' work. So, I'd like to dialogue with anyone who care to discuss Wenders' work. I am familiar with Wings of Desire and Far Away, So Close! I have Paris Texas on queue, and to my delight I see that Netflix has most of Wenders' works - more to add to my queque.

I know that I was introduced to Wim Wenders sometime in the last few years by a colleague at work, and it didn't take long for me to become a fan of his work. Wings of Desire and Paris Texas are my two strong favorites, with The American Friend and Wrong Move coming in close behind. Interestingly enough, the one WW film that this colleague does not like is Far Away So Close. Surely more of Wim's fans will find their way here soon and speak up. Eh? Eh? Eh.

Richie, there is another WW movie I would like to see, it's called Until The End Of The World. Netflix does not have it. Do you know how to ask Netflix to possibly get it?

I'm not sure that UTEOTW has been released on DVD in the US. I was plundering through Amazon, and all I could find listings for were Region 2 DVDs. Makes me skeptical.

I sent an email request to Netflix Purchasing Department, dunno how long it is going to take. Well... I tried.

Check out Wim Wenders' Lisbon Story (1994) & Buena Vista Social Club (1999) sometime...

I think you might enjoy watching both of those films, too.

Anyone seen The End of Violence and The Million Dollar Hotel? How are they?

Reply to This

I've seen both.

The End Of Violence is O.K.
The Million Dollar Hotel was hard for me to sit through tho'.
I didn't care for it much...
I nearly walked out on it when I saw it at the movie theater.

Paris, Texas is one of my all-time favorite movies! Other than Wings of Desire (which was beautiful), I haven't seen any of Wender's other movies...but thanks to Netflix, that will change soon enough.

Why thank you! Check out Richie's favorite auteurs thread...I got to recommend one of my all-time favorite directors over there. :)

Is this group still operative? Wings of Desire has also been a top ten of mine ever since it came out. I see it again every few years when my soul needs a little healing.
