Yesterday, no fewer than 5 new James Bond titles hit Blu-ray.

The most recent in the James Bond franchise, Quantum of Solace along with three new catalog titles and the ‘out of sequence’ remake Never Say Never Again.

Additionally the catalog releases have been bundled into the James Bond Blu-ray Collection Vol. 3.

Goldfinger, Moonraker and The World Is Not Enough round out the releases.

Anchor Bay Home Entertainment says they are marking the 25th anniversary of Children of the Corn, by bringing the 1984 classic to stunning Blu-ray on July 28. Note: the remake also comes later this year.

Blu-ray Market Share Drops on Strong Blu-ray Revenues

The Blu-ray market share was down to 7% while the revenue was a very healthy $19.56M for the week ending April 12th, according to Home Media Magazine.

Adams Media Research says blu-ray sales during the quarter January through March '09 were approx 9 million units, double that of first quarter '08.

12 Million Blu-ray Players Expected to Ship This Year

Futursource Consulting expects global shipments of Blu-ray players to reach nearly 12 million this year. That would be up from the 3 million shipped 4th qtr '08 which represented 50% of all Blu-ray shipments for that year.

Sales of Blu-Ray HD more than doubled in the first quarter, while digital downloads were up 19 percent, according to a report from the Digital Entertainment Group. Both formats are still a small piece of the overall pie—DVD sales were $2.9 billion in the quarter versus $230 million for Blu-Ray and $487 million for digital downloads. But Blu-Ray’s sales were up 400 percent last year, for a total of $750 million, and companies like Netflix and Blockbuster continue to make inroads against traditional DVD sales with digital delivery of home movies.

DVD sales dropped 14 percent for the quarter.
