Blu-ray Reaches New Price Low

The EngadgetHD folks have spotlighted that the Nebraska Furniture Mart, is offering a Memorex Blu-ray model for $100, and they will ship it for $10 more. Perhaps some mainstream retailers will follow suit. Then again, it appears to be sold out, so take note Best Buy.

Fox Announces Easter Promotion Includes New Blu-ray Titles and Pricing

Fox has just announced an Easter Promotion that includes family oriented titles at a special price.

The promotion apparently includes some new animated Blu-ray titles.

The press release indicates a promotional price point of only $19.98 retail - half the price of many Fox / MGM Blu-ray titles.

While Alvin and the Chipmunks is already available, new Blu-ray titles Anastasia, Ferngully and Secret of Nimh are listed in the promotion as ‘Family Fun Editions’.

Warner Announces Batman Anthology Blu-ray Box Set

Warner has finally announced the Batman Anthology (1989 - 1997) for Blu-ray release, covering the Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher Batman movies.

While Euroland appears to be getting single disc releases of these four titles, the US is getting them all in a box set - so no way to avoid the hideous movie Batman & Robin.

Extras include over 18 hours of special features including documentaries from Directors Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher, deleted scenes and music videos!

Retail is expected to be $129.95 and the set is due out March 10th 2009.

JVC Blu-Ray comes to the USA

JVC have used the CES tradeshow in Las Vegas to announce the decision to bring their Blu-ray products to the USA. JVC Blu-ray has proved popular in Europe and Asia, especially with the manufacturer's competitive pricing, and up until now, the USA has had to admire them from afar, but starting from March anyone who wants to will be able to snap one up on home soil.

March sees the release of the XV-BP1 player - a first not only for the States, but JVC too - featuring profile 2.0 for BD Live, playback of the JVC-used AVCHD format, HDMI v1.3 with Deep and x.v. colour plus support for Dolby True HD, DTS and DTS HD. A retail price of a touch under $300 has been suggested.
