Ricky Gervais' The Invention of Lying - I'm a fan of Gervais and really liked this comedy. It was 4 stars for me.

Little Britain, Series 3 - I watched Little Britain series 1 & 2 on Netflix instant watch and just finished Series 3 on DVD. Now that I know the characters well, I re-watched Series 1 & 2 and changed the 4 star rating I had given the to 5 stars. I think this is a brilliant series and look forward to the other Little Britain DVDs.

Skins - 3 stars - I watched a couple of episodes of this drama on Netflix Instant Watch and like it a lot.
Five Days is a well acted drama in that the complicated emotions of having a missing loved one seem well portrayed; however, the mystery was a bit disappointing.
In The Loop was great, terrifically funny and frightening. Being Human is great, can't wait for tonight's episode:)
Although it came out a bit ago, I rewatched Keeping Mum after Patrick Swayze's recent death. He plays unusual 'Ugly American' to Maggie Smith, Rowan Atkinson & Kristin Scott Thomas. Another brillant, dark comedy those Brits do so well.

Thanks, Netti & cps. I'd never heard of them but now I have Being Human, The Loop and 5 Days on radar.

DeeAnn, Keeping Mum is actually in the mail from Netflix to us now. I'm a Rowan Atkinson fan and dark comedy is one of my favorite genres. I'll get to watch it this week.
Enjoy Keeping Mum, rented it then bought it. So hilarious!
That last one worth mentioning was The League of Gentlemen, (IW) which was hilarious all three seasons and the special. I also thought Ripping Yarns (IW) was pretty darn good. Alfresco was passable with a mix of sketches that were hit or miss. That Mitchell and Webb Look (IW) is also worth watching and should give you a few chuckles.
My wife and I started getting back into "The Avengers" a few months back. Just the Emma Peel, John Steed years, oh well. The interplay between those two was just great with just a touch of sexuality here and there.
Here are some of my 5 star British shows currently on Netflix Instant Watch:

Little Britain series 1 & 2

I watched Plunkett & Macleane which stars Robert Carlyle and noticed Lucas and Walliams are in that movie.

Black Adder Series 1 - 4

A Film with Me In It
is a very dark comedy starring Dylan Moran (Bernard from Black Books which may be my favorite comedy).

Maybe with Netflix starting to market in Canada this fall we will get more Canadian and British Instant Watch.

Lot's of Brit TV on Instant Watch - Coupling, Black Adder, Skins, The Office, Little Britain, The IT Crowd, &  Torchwood are some I've seen.  I'm watching Hyperdrive season 2 now.  Hyperdrive Seasons 1 & 2 are both on Instant Watch - this comedy stars Nick Frost - pretty funny stuff.

Both seasons of Green Wing are still on Hulu free online. As well as Spaced's 2 seasons.  My favorite comedy, Black Books is also on Hulu.com free online - all 3 series.

What other British comedy do you recommend?

Netflix dumping more films into streaming, and now easy to search for 'british' and 'strong female leads'

led me to watch  Howards End again. Forgot what a wonderful movie it is.

Now if only Netflix will somehow workout subtitles for foreign movies....

Saxondale staring Steve Coogan is a great Brit com on NF IW
