Thanks Gus for the invite. The reviewer I seem to agree with the most is Michael Medved from Seattle. We just seem to like the same movies I guess. However, there are several really good writers out there.

My favorite critics are Anthony Lane of the New Yorker Manohla Dargis and A O Scot of the New York Times. I also read Roger Ebert and others.

I read critics not so they can tell me what to see - but to get a sense of the movie and then make up my own mind. The main reason I would not see a movie is if it contains things I've already seen a hundred times before.

I don't even read critics anymore. The best reviews for me were (sadly, past tense) from the Netflix member reviews that were tagged with XX%, the percentage that the Netflix computations said I and the reviewer were alike. I could go to any movie on Netflix, and just read the reviews of people who were 60% or more like me, and skim the lower percentage reviews. It wasn't foolproof, but it was damn good.

Do you think that will ever come back?

"Yep. Good one. Must say Keaton's plots all seem almost incidental. He could walk from movie into another without much continuity work. ha"

"The Goat (1921)Not one of the most cohesive plots but has a lot of funny gags and a few iconic Keaton moments like the one at 8'46". I don't quite understand the relevance of the title unless it's short for scapegoat. ★★★★☆ "
