Thanks Gus for the invite. The reviewer I seem to agree with the most is Michael Medved from Seattle. We just seem to like the same movies I guess. However, there are several really good writers out there.

My favorite critics are Anthony Lane of the New Yorker Manohla Dargis and A O Scot of the New York Times. I also read Roger Ebert and others.

I read critics not so they can tell me what to see - but to get a sense of the movie and then make up my own mind. The main reason I would not see a movie is if it contains things I've already seen a hundred times before.

I don't even read critics anymore. The best reviews for me were (sadly, past tense) from the Netflix member reviews that were tagged with XX%, the percentage that the Netflix computations said I and the reviewer were alike. I could go to any movie on Netflix, and just read the reviews of people who were 60% or more like me, and skim the lower percentage reviews. It wasn't foolproof, but it was damn good.

Do you think that will ever come back?
