I didn't realize there were so many couples on the series... but then it was a soap opera! Check out the video and tell us who you're favorite couple was on the show. I liked the conflict between Barnabus and Julia as well as the conflict between Jason and Elizabeth. Not sure I really had a favorite though.

I really like Maggie and Joe Haskell. She's so needy and Joe's always there for her. I think she's the prettiest girl on the series so far (up to collection 10), and Joe's the hottest guy. Wow was he a looker! Plus Willie's got a thing for her and Barnabas usually gives him a hard time for that. One episode Barnabas asked Willie where he got the insane idea Maggie might like him, and then told him he'd deal with his "mental aberrations" later. I laughed so hard I almost rolled out of bed!

I guess I have to vote for Barnabas and Willie as sort of a couple too. Not in that way! :) Willie has this love/hate thing with Barnabas. Barnabas is so mean and dismissive of Willie. Their acting scenes together were some of the best of the series. I think John Karlen was excellent. They had a great chemistry on camera.
I agree Laura... Barnabus and Willie were great on screen. I like Joe and Maggie as a couple as well. I guess I would have to stick with Barnabus and Julia. I really liked the Jason character though... quite the self centered evil dude!
Jason was awesome. I love his accent--Irish I think. Have you watched the Beginning Collections where he came into town and started to bribe Mrs. Stoddard? I started watching the series from the Beginning Volume 1. The Beginning Volume 5 will be released on July 29th. I think there will be a Beginning Volume 6 to be released yet as well.

The relationship between Julia and Barnabus is fascinating to watch. I really hate to say it, but Julia is so funny to watch. She wasn't one of the best actresses on the show. When they end a scene and cut to a close-up of her it's just funny. You can tell she was probably a heavy smoker too because when she screams it sounds like a man. I still appreciate and enjoy the chemistry on screen between her and Barnabus though.
LOL! The Julia character was sooo over the top so many times! It's a great watch! I started with the introduction of Barnabus, but I think I will check out The Beginning series as well. It's hard to get the time to watch 3 1/2 hours of the DVD's... because when I start, I don't want to stop!
I think I'll follow your lead and check them out as well. The series seems really cheesey now, but cheese goes great with a lot of things! : )
Quentin & Joanna. I used to watch this as a youngster, right before my "summer youth acting classes". I wanted to marry Quentin when I grew up, and we would play "Dark Shadows". Guess who was Joanna? ahhhhhhhhhhhhh youthful innocence.
All of these comments bring back so many memories for me. the funniest ones to me are about Julia. As much as I loved Julia she was by far one of the worst actresses I have ever seen. I really loved her unrequited love for Barnabas. Maggie was by far the most beautiful of all the Dark Shadow women followed by a close a second with Anglique. I too loved the relationship between Maggie and Joe. The mental abberrations comment by Barnabas was hilarious. Karlens character Willie is superbly acted by Karlen. Beside Barnabus and Willie's great scenes togther the only one I could possibly like more would be Barnabas and Anglique. Towards the end I really like it when Bramwell was in love with Angliques character but she was planning on a marriage to his cousin, I loved having the tables turned on him. My only other comment would have to be on the chessy comment, which it is chessy by todays standards. But you have to think back this was the late sixties and except for the supernatural aspect this was very comparable to any of the other daytime soaps.
geeze, how can you say Maggie was the best looking when there was Angelique (Lara Parker)????? Lara is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more attractive than `Maggie` ANY day! Lara Parker has a flawless BEAUTIFUL face, and a WOMAN`S shape. Maggie has NO shape. Shaped like a 6th grade boy, has no curves at all. Worst of all is that overbite of hers and those nasty bottom teeth. She has two scary looking upside down vampire type teeth on the bottom...one on each side. Very strange she didnt get those snaggle tooth/teeth fixed.
