Reading through what others have suggested, I would have to agree that you should watch Fanny and Alexander, City of God, and am also glad to see Cache' and Diving Bell and the Butterfly mentioned. There are about 100 more I could recommend-I am glad that you have discovered foreign films, you will get used to the subtitles- honest.

Some great suggestions on here already, but here are a few more that I don't think have been mentioned.

Audition -- If you like horror, you will probably like this which is pretty twisted.
The Man without a Past -- A quirky Finnish comedy
The Kingdom -- Actually was originally a Danish tv series. It's sort of a cross between ER and Twin Peaks.
Weekend -- A classic French New Wave film by Godard
Man Bites Dog -- A satire on violence from France in which a film crew follows a serial killer while he does his evil deeds.
Anything by director Alejandro Jodorowski (My fave, Santa Sangre, is not available yet on Region 1 DVD, only VHS at Amazon, but there are several others from Jodorowsky available at Netflix.)

The Eighth Day, Old Boy, Thirteen Game of Death, Like Water For Chocolate, The Oprhanage, are the only ones I can think of at this time.

Try Ju-On, if you haven't already seen it. It is a Japanese film.
