Well, I LOVED Volver! It is my favorite Almodovar film so far. Loved the women winning in the end. Ha! Also liked Talk to Her, even though I was creeped out by the ending, and thought All About My Mother was a great movie. I thought Bad Education was just Ok. I think some of the acting in that one was just plain bad which kind of ruined it for me, and I thought it was too "busy." One of his I didn't care for at all was Live Flesh. I think that is all of his that I've seen. Try All about My Mother and Talk to Her. Those I'd recommend. Enjoy!

Ditto, Volver is my favorite too. I also like All About My Mother. I didn't like Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown.... maybe I am not "artsy" enough to appreciate it.

Interesting. I remember liking "Women on the verge..." (saw it many years ago), but I didn't like "Talk to her" and I feel that "All About my Mother" was only so-so. I want to like Almodovar, but I don't think I do...

i LOVE matador which i saw when it was a first run film, in SF many years ago. i knew this was an innovative brave director. anyone seen this gem? it shld be released on dvd very soon! pedro has improved with time, unlike many directors who experience success. i appreciate how he adores & loves women , and knows them so intimately. he's one of the best, consistent high calibre directors out there, he loves film and it shows in his creations. Bravo to Mr. Almodovar i've been a fan for decades and shall remain so (am confident!) in the years to come. ~ladybug~

Yes, I loved Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown- I've seen it three times actually! Funnily enough, the first time I saw it was at the movies, and I had absolutely no idea what I was about to see. It's a wacky comedy, lots of chaos and strange situations, and you get to see a very young Antonio Banderas (playing a very nerdy guy with glasses, of all things!) I like Tie Me up! too, but "The Flower of my Secret" I was not too fond of.

Though I have seen just four of his... i'm already along with him.. and digging his other movies.... until now seen.. All about my Mother, Volver, Talk to her and What have I done to deserve this? .. Among them, Talk to her is my fav and AamM will be the next... i have to check Bad Education.. My suggestions would be AamM and Talk to her.. let me wat u think

Highly recommended: All About My Mother/Women on the Verge.../Law of Desire
Recommended w/ reservations: Live Flesh/Dark Habits/What Have I Done to Deserve This?
A basic rule of thumb for me w/ directors whose work I really enjoy: better to have weak films by them than no films at all.

Just have to add that All About My Mother reigns as my favorite..But it is not available in NF for some strange reason, as is Tie Me Up Tie Me down, which was my first experience with Pedro..

I loved Law of Desire and almost feel that Bad Education is a remake of sorts.
