German police detective w/crazy hair

I know this is a long shot, but there were (i think) a couple of German movies back in the early 80s starring a German police detective who was otherwise conservatively dressed, but had this wild shock of hair. For the live of me I can't remember the names of any of the movies. I've tried everything! I really want to see them again.. Any clues?

I assume you are talking about "Oberinspektor Stephan Derrick" from the TV show "Derrick". Actor "Horst Tappert" played the detective and "Inspektor Harry Klein" (Fritz Wepper) played the assistant inspector.

thanks, but that's not the guy. The guy I'm thinking of had kinda Einstein hair.

Conservatively dressed? Einstein hair? Can't be Horst Schimanski (played by Götz George) and his sidekick Tanner (played by Eberhard Feik) then... They were part of the series "Tatort" ("crime scene") which is a very long running TV series like "Law & Order"
