I'm new to Korean movies, and I'm looking for some recommendations - what have you seen that you liked? Are there any directors to be on the lookout for?
There are some really great Korean movies out there. My two favorite Korean directors are Chan-Wook Park and Ki-Duk Kim. I would recommend pretty much anything by either. I also have a list of movies Made in Korea if that's any help.

I just started watching it online on Netflix yesterday - and I'm enjoying it so far - particularly those unexpected moments of humor. Great recommendation - thanks!!

Definitely a must see director is Chan Wook Park. Especially his "Vengeance" trilogy: Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, and Lady Vengeance.
If you want some light hearted comedy type flicks, then The Quiet Family and My left Eye sees Ghosts ranks as my favorites
