2009 New York Asian Film Festival

It looks like Netflix only has about 1/4 of the titles from this year's festival in the database, but in that bunch there's some real winners.

I've always started to work backwards in cataloging festival year's prior.

Oooooh..... Thank you...

I am going to look at your page in more detail....

Can you share with us which were some of your favorites in the Festival?

I really want to see the 20TH CENTURY BOYS films, and I'm going to watch SAMURAI SCHOOL in about 10 minutes.

THE CLONE RETURNS HOME has gotten a LOT of festival play in the U.S.

MONSTER X was just silly, and EYE IN THE SKY was decent (not great, but decent).

Of the 2008 fest, a list of which you'll also find on my page, I just watched BIG MAN JAPAN about an hour ago. It starts slow, but gets MUCH better as it goes along.

DORORO is goofy fantasy.

For some reason, Netflix never stocked X-CROSS, which streated a earlier this summer.

From the '06 fest, Netflix also skipped OH! MY ZOMBIE MERMAID when streeted in the U.S. two days ago.

In case you couldnt' guess, my tastes lean more towards cult-oriented fare.

I am going to look at your email and list more closely after work..

Just after a brief view.... question - was there nothing noteworthy from Korea in the festival?

Reply to This

there were definitely Korean titles, but very few in the NF database. many were by established directors too.

Yea.... NF selection of good Korean films is pretty dismal...
