A Netflix Community

This is a thread for fans or curious only, no haters. Let's talk about your favorite Bergman film and why it's your favorite. Mine is Cries and Whispers. It changed the way I looked at film as an art form. It's about painful, fearful death, jealousy and resentment among sisters, the horrors of some marriages. Each shot is composed like a painting. The lighting and use of the color red is breath-taking. As a friend of mine said, it is '"soul crushing." And, for me, it it life affirming, authentic and true.

oh goodie, I hope we haven't hyped it too much for you. And Bergman has so many different kinds of movies, too.

I haven't seen much talk about Scenes from a Marriage, neither here nor there, so not a lot of hype. I think I added it before I even knew Bergman directed it! haha.

Hey guys, I watched Scenes from a marriage as my very first Bergman movies and was pretty disappointed. The set designs and lighting were amateur to the point of being annoying. Acting was good. It was interesting to consider the wife's plight considering women's options at the time but the way it was filmed on 16MM for TV was way too annoying. 2 stars.
